Quoting an exclusive interview is standard journalistic practice. Reproducing virtually an entire story, even with portions reworded, is not.
The @IndianExpress has reproduced and reworked substantial portions of an exclusive interview with actor Rishikanth, conducted by The Hindu's @srinivasjam at our Chennai office. It has also used a photograph from the accompanying photoshoot by our photographer, @thamodharran, without permission or credit.

We find this disregard for original reporting and photography deeply disappointing. Credit where it is due is a basic tenet of journalism.

Senator Ossoff is now clearly in the reckoning for the US Presidential polls in 2028. Though a fortnight ago, he had said he isn’t interested in the 2028 battle. But his victory speech focussed quite a bit on @realDonaldTrump.

Commoners who don’t have imp work like the Lordships can always opt to travel by train or road. And for those who have important functions to perform, like netas, babus and the Lordships, tax payers are willing for national service!
STORY | Don't travel by air, says SC; refuses urgent listing of plea alleging 700 pc hike in airfares
Don't travel by air, the Supreme Court told a petitioner on Monday while refusing urgent listing of a plea alleging nearly 700 per cent increase in airfares.
An advocate mentioned the matter for urgent listing before a bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and Aparesh Kumar Singh.
"The aviation fare has increased by 700 per cent," the advocate said.
"Don't travel by air," the bench observed.
The advocate then said air travel is an essential service. "It's a violation of Article 14."
Article 14 of the Constitution deals with equality before law.
The apex court is already hearing a separate petition filed by social activist S Laxminarayanan, who has sought a robust and independent regulator that ensures transparency and passenger protection across the civil aviation sector and regulatory guidelines to control "unpredictable fluctuations" in airfare and ancillary charges imposed by private airlines in India.
During a hearing on that plea on October 16, the Centre informed the top court that administrative approval has been granted to rules under a 2024 legislation aimed at regulating India's aviation sector, and is likely to be published in two weeks.
The apex court had asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to place the published rules under the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024, before the court on the next date of hearing -- November 16.

What to expect at the “public impeachment” of the CEC tomo? Read here in @the_hindu
The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc’s planned “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral manipulation through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will avoid imagery that could be seen as mocking Parliament as an institution.

Sir, due to a technical glitch in internet services, our response was delayed. We regret the inconvenience. Your concern regarding heavy traffic congestion on Vikas Marg has been noted. The concerned Traffic Inspector is being informed for necessary intervention to regulate traffic and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

Then he landed in CoOperative Sector, before joining politics - he was in jail for looting a CoOperative Bank - Supreme Court gave him bail - after paying some Rs. 200 crore ...

শুভ বিজয়া 🙏 Subho Bijoya to all!
As Maa Durga leaves for Kailash, here's a treasure from our home: an original chromolithograph from the late 19th or early 20th century, printed at the Kansaripara Art Studio, 26 Kristo Dass Pal Lane, Calcutta.
Prints like this brought the Durga Puja image into ordinary Bengali and Assamese homes earlier. Durga stands with Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha and Kartik beneath a painted chalchitra.
May the Mother's blessings bring peace and prosperity to all.

Politely disagree on AAP: its road to retaining power is extremely difficult. Congress is in fight only due to people's longing for alternative politics and not due to its groundwork. BJP could make rural inroads. SAD is still toiling to revive. WPD may play spoilsport. @fewcan

It’s been six days since this remarkable woman of Indian origin (see her story, attached) won the #NobelPeacePrize. And the Government of India, her ancestral homeland, hasn’t so much as congratulated her?! Shame on the petty men who have made such a deplorable decision.
This is a very interesting survey. If elections were to be held in Punjab today, @AamAadmiParty will have an easy win, @INCPunjab will be distant second and BJP will improve its vote share. @vasudevavikas do you agree?
At DesignBoxed we decided to take a plunge and start a survey organisation that does things differently. If you see our website you’ll see what’s different — nobody puts out such granular seat by seat data.
I’ll be honest: the findings of our Punjab survey surprised even me. Being from Punjab myself I’m deeply concerned about drugs and crime in the state. But the survey findings were saying something else: women and the poor are happy with freebies and cash transfers. We checked this in multiple ways: a phone survey, a ground qualitative survey, a ground quantitative survey, and then a survey of local community groups across the state.
We had a choice to make. Should we go with our data or our instinct?
According to our data, if only men were voting, the AAP would still be leading but would be under the majority mark. There is a huge gender gap among men and women voting for AAP. Less than 3 out of ten respondents say they intend to vote AAP, but around 5 of 10 women do the same.
It is the women who are giving the AAP comfort.
This is a movie we have seen before. Working with Late Shri Ajit Pawar in Maharashtra in 2024 Vidhan Sabha elections, we helped the NCP go from extreme anti-incumbency to a bumper victory by campaigning over the women’s cash transfer scheme. The scheme has been found to beat anti-incumbency in state after state, including Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
It should also be remembered that the AAP not only has a women’s cash transfer scheme but is also lucky to have a very divided opposition. Who would have thought that one day UP will look bi-polar and Punjab will look multi-polar!
Our website scoreintelligence.in helps you explore our Punjab opinion poll of seat by seat, region by region. Of course, the election is 4-5 months away and a lot can change. We will track the change month on month, releasing the next monthly tracker around the 15th of November.
To our critics: abuse us, but please do a deep dive into our data.
