#Watch | Dozens of Indian retail investors using Stockal Securities woke up to unauthorized mass liquidations of their US portfolios—selling off blue-chip stocks like Apple and Nvidia to buy a crashing penny stock.
Now, the blame game between Stockal and US partner DriveWealth begins.
Here’s what happened, who’s affected, and what you need to check on your US stock apps right now 👇

Every second, you move about 230 kilometers through the galaxy. And you never feel it. We picture the solar system like a clock: planets circling a Sun that stays put. But the Sun does not stay put. It is racing around the center of the Milky Way at about 230 km/s (828,000 km/h)

What a delight to walk through the new Terminal 2 at Guwahati Airport and find Assam tea front and centre ! Speciality tea stores and cafés like Tea Khana, Goodwyn Tea and Repose (serving Ésah's lychee black tea) make a fitting welcome for travellers to the land that grows around half of India's tea.
Kudos to HCM Assam @himantabiswa and his team for putting our tea heritage where the world can see it, sip it and take it home. This is how we build pride and brand value for Assam tea, one cup at a time.

🚨SHOCKING - FIR against Malabar:
A man walked into a Malabar Gold showroom in Bilaspur with a simple request: exchange his old 22-carat HUID-hallmarked bracelet.
The staff ran it through their XRF machine. Once. Twice. Three times.
Every reading came back the same: 20 carat.
They even told him the hallmark didn’t exist.
He called the local jeweller who had sold him the bracelet. The jeweller walked in, confirmed the HUID, and asked them to test it again.
Same machine. Same bracelet. Same room.
This time an employee adjusted something on the machine. Suddenly the reading flipped to 916 - pure 22 carat.
The jeweller recorded everything. The Sarafa Association arrived. Police registered an FIR against the showroom manager and the machine operator. The machine and DVR were seized.
This wasn’t a small local shop. This was Malabar Gold “the chain that advertises trust, purity, and BIS standards across India”.
One bracelet. Two readings. An 8% gap in gold value. And the only thing that changed was who was watching.
If a hallmarked piece can magically lose two carats the moment a customer wants to exchange it, and magically regain them the moment someone pushes back, what exactly is the machine testing?
Customers don’t walk into Malabar expecting a calibration error that only appears when they’re selling gold.
They walk in expecting the purity printed on their receipt.
The FIR is real.
The readings are on record.
The machine was seized.
Malabar still hasn’t explained why the same piece of gold needed a “setting” before it became 22 carat again.
Until they do, this isn’t a machine glitch.
It’s a business model.

A tribute to Sonam Das (1980–2025)
While sending out Bijoya greetings this week, I got a call from Sonam Das, Secretary of the Tea Association of India, Tezpur Branch. However the voice on the call was his wife's. She told me that Sonam passed away on 2nd October 2025, a year ago, at just 45, with no known prior illness.
Sonam came from the illustrious family of Late Gangaram Das of Tezpur. He began his career in the tea plantations with Amalgamated Plantations (APPL) of the Tata Group, and later served with Kanan Devan Hills Plantations (KDHP) in Munnar, also part of the Tata Group. In 2017 he joined the Tea Association of India as Secretary of its Tezpur Branch.
In seven to eight years there, he earned the respect of almost every district head and tea trade union leaders on the North Bank of Assam. He was capable, dependable and always ready to help.
The tea industry has lost a brilliant officer who still had so much to contribute. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
Rest in peace, Sonam. 🙏

As Maa Durga leaves for Kailash, here's a treasure from our home: an original chromolithograph from the late 19th or early 20th century, printed at the Kansaripara Art Studio, 26 Kristo Dass Pal Lane, Calcutta.
Prints like this brought the Durga Puja image into ordinary Bengali and Assamese homes earlier. Durga stands with Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha and Kartik beneath a painted chalchitra.
May the Mother's blessings bring peace and prosperity to all.

This chart from the Quip Drip by Ryan Rego covers 179 ready-to-drink protein formulations in India. It includes shakes, protein water, lassi and even protein coffee (5%), but no tea. As far as I know only Chaayos sells protein tea in India.
That's a big gap in a country that runs on chai. Tea already brings trust, familiarity and natural polyphenols. It could easily move into protein iced teas, fortified milk teas and chai premixes.
At @TRATocklai our ongoing work on protein and vitamin fortification of tea aims to help close this gap. The protein boom is here, and tea should definitely be part of it.

Last evening in Kolkata, Assam’s tea story met its next big chapter!
While addressing small tea growers, industry leaders and members of the tea fraternity at the 62nd AGM of the Tea Research Association, I spoke about the journey of Assam tea and the possibilities that lie ahead with the launch of ‘TocklAI’ - an AI-powered tool designed to open new possibilities for the Indian tea industry.
The appreciation expressed by members of the tea fraternity for Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji’s focus on innovation, technology and strengthening India’s tea industry reflects the confidence driving this sector forward.
The Assam Government, under HCM Dr. @HimantaBiswa’s leadership, is reinforcing this legacy through concrete support for small tea growers and efforts to create new opportunities for Assam’s tea industry.
200 years of Assam tea. 115 years of Tocklai’s Tea research legacy. And now, a new chapter powered by AI.
