Elon Musk accelerated EV adoption by a decade. His strategy? Start with expensive cars to fund the tech for more affordable models. Episode with @bryworthington and @fi_saunders out now: Out now: youtu.be/YL64XW5ZRBA #EV #Tech #Innovation
One of my favourite things at @OctopusEV and @OctopusEnergy is V2G - vehicle to grid - where we can use to renewable energy for when we need it most, and using that to give free energy to the driver.
Launched last year with @BYDCompany
A powerplant on your driveway? @fi_saunders of @OctopusEV tells @bryworthington how bidirectional charging means storing cheap energy and using it when you need it most. Out now: youtu.be/YL64XW5ZRBA #V2G #EV #OctopusEnergy

NEW RESEARCH: Our study shows high-temperature heat pumps are the most cost-effective path to decarbonising industrial heat at low to medium temperatures.
We find industrial heat pumps can cut heating costs by up to 75% vs h2 & and beat natural gas.

Yes heat pumps do work in old buildings.
@TrinityOxford @UniofOxford getting a ground source heat pump fitted by Rendesco right now. I cycled right by it today.
It will heat its grade II listed Jackson Building, which houses common rooms, teaching rooms and student bedrooms.
One of many similar projects where heat pumps are installed in old iconic buildings.
I need your help - to reach Benedict Cumberbatch...
This letter reading is so powerful.
We need to change the outcome.
1/4 of global emissions is transport.
We have global transport leaders meeting on Mon.
I'd love Benedict to join & inspire.

Recently, the rise in popularism in Politics gives rise to strong accusations that Climate change isn’t real and isn’t a threat to humanity. As an engineer I try to speak in facts when I advocate for EV’s and New Energy Vehicles. The facts are indisputable:
1. “Global Temperature Rise”: The Earth's average surface temperature has risen by about 1.2°C since the late 19th century, with most of this warming occurring in the past 40 years, driven largely by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions.
2. “Warming Oceans”: The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) of ocean showing warming of more than 0.2°C since 1969.
3. “Shrinking Ice Sheets”: The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019, while Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons per year; I went to Antarctica in Dec 23 and saw this with my own eyes.
4. “Glacial Retreat”: Glaciers are retreating almost everywhere around the world — including in the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Rockies, Alaska, and Africa.
5. “Decreased Snow Cover”: Satellite observations reveal that the amount of spring snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere has decreased over the past five decades and that the snow is melting earlier.
6. “Sea Level Rise”: Global sea levels rose about 20 cm (8 inches) in the last century. The rate in the last two decades, however, is nearly double that of the last century and is accelerating slightly every year.
7. “Declining Arctic Sea Ice”: Both the extent and thickness of Arctic sea ice have declined rapidly over the last several decades.
8. “Extreme Events”: The number of record high temperature events in the United States has been increasing, while the number of record low temperature events has been decreasing since 1950. The U.S. has also witnessed increasing numbers of intense rainfall events.
9. “Ocean Acidification”: Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30%. This increase is the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and hence more being absorbed into the oceans.
10. “Decreased Atmospheric Oxygen”: As CO₂ concentrations increase, the concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere decreases proportionally. Observations show a measurable decrease in atmospheric oxygen over the last few decades, consistent with the increase in fossil fuel burning.
These points are supported by extensive research and data collected by various scientific organizations and agencies worldwide, including NASA, NOAA, IPCC, and others. I don’t know about you, but these FACTS are quite alarming!
