You can't even satirize capitalism anymore without some dorks getting upset. A fantasy character who blew himself up from using an unregulated jetpack and is now a walking skeleton is not on the nose enough for these ppl
i played pharah/junkrat in gm for overwatch for 8 years before i ever touched league. Deadman Danny genuinely has such a cool kit and i know i'd enjoy playing it. its a shame that he's so ugly and mr capitalism man.

The free-will justification for evil is curious because presumably you will still have free-will in heaven, but you will not sin.
C.S. Lewis, you already know it's going to be good

Feeling appreciative for the Covid vaccine once again remembering that most plagues would not come once, kill everyone, then leave those w resistance, but would flair up repeatedly every few years for centuries

"businesses raising prices *causes* inflation"
At the height of the pandemic, @IsabellaMWeber was ridiculed by mainstream economists for arguing that corporate price hikes were driving inflation. Since vindicated, she tells Jacobin how we can save democracy from the crisis of capitalism: jacobin.com/2026/10/weber-in…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Weber has not been vindicated. To the contrary, peer-reviewed empirical studies find no evidence for a rise in corporate markups during recent inflation phases sciencedirect.com/science/articl… sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

I am pretty far from a Christian but people who don't read Christian literature and history are undoubtably missing many of the greatest works ever produced by mankind

If you (and others reading this) are completely new to theory, I would recommend reading these short books as beginner's friendly reading materials. This is just a friendly recommendation; you'll find better books eventually. Just avoid Rawls and G.A. Cohen

Universal appeal leads to slop but universe accessibility has freed the genius of mankind from caste and allowed ppl who were not born elite to contribute many of the greatest pieces of art, culture, & literature in all of human history. How many ppls fav art is from before 1500?
Has anything become more beautiful as a consequence of becoming more universal (i.e. more broadly accessible and legible)? It seems like there is a sweet spot - e.g., making the Bible more accessible to illiterate peasants resulted in stained glass, which is arguably a more beautiful representation than words on a page - but beyond a certain scope, things seem to degenerate and become ugly. An airport terminal optimized for use by all humans on Earth is sterile & purposefully forgettable (i.e., less beautiful). The universal language on the internet is brainrot; the universal sound is some swampy local minimum between reggaeton & drill

If the AI boom turns out to be a bubble, it may still be one of the most welfare enhancing and productive bubbles in history. Investors will go bankrupt, but humanity keeps the models, infrastructure, and knowledge that the mania financed

Hard to think of a company that had more false promises, misleading statements, and failures to deliver to the consumer than BioWare in the last half decade. First game I bought on my gaming PC in 2019 was Anthem and they lied they’d fix it just to take the whole thing offline
EA is shutting down BioWare, the studio behind ‘Dragon Age’ and ‘Mass Effect’. The next ‘Mass Effect’ game has been cancelled as a result. (Source: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…)

Need more writers like Mises for economics to boom again. No one today calls a policy they don’t like “destructionism”

If the PIH and consumption smoothing more broadly are correct, one of the best ways to stimulate aggregate demand is to do things that inspire optimism about the future

If the PIH is correct then dooming is bad for the economy and therefore your own material circumstances
