tldr splitting and bpd as a whole sucks and tbh i get it. when im splitting i need to get away as far as possible otherwise i will do things i regret, sometimes i dont and i hurt people. the concept of this along with what i said here can coexist

the best thing you can do as someone with bpd is learn to realize when you are splitting, identify what triggered it, then avoid that trigger as best as you can. of course it’s not that easy, i struggle with it a lot and im grown. but i hate causing pain, so i do the best i can

what changed me was realizing that if i have to beg someone to stay the relationship or friendship we have after that won’t quite be the same. it will be one sided and you will have to live with the guilt knowing they’re only sticking around cus you threatened them lmfao.

my mental health may suck but at least ive put so much work into controlling my bpd. i have learned nearly all of my triggers and have gotten good at avoiding most of them when i am aware of the fact that it will at some point hurt another person (most notably my fiance)

the path to recovery is a long and hard one and it’s taken me almost two decades but it is very much worth it. my coping mechanism is to replace the self-sabotaging and spiraling thoughts with an intense video game like darktide or league of legends 🤓☝️

of course this doesn’t mean i won’t have slip ups every now and then but that’s okay and it’s part of the process. medications have helped a lot in helping me control my behavior too 😭 like sometimes u really just have to try and do baby steps at a time even if you’re unsure
