Can't believe it's been two years, sheesh.
Time flies when you're having fun making memes.
A 2% Lakers stake at $12.5B = $250M. Amortized over 15 years, that’s ~$15M a year in paper losses on an asset that keeps going up.
Catch is minority owners can only use the losses against other passive income, and it’s recaptured when you sell. Die holding it and the recapture disappears. Anyone dropping a quarter billion on a small Lakers stake is probably doing it at least partially for tax reasons.
has Harry Goularte's trial happened yet?? We have some beautiful tall buildings in our country. Let gravity do the work.
Former UFC champ Cain Velasquez says he lost the will to live before unloading two clips during an 11-mile chase with the man who m*lested his 4-year-old son.
Velasquez shared the heartbreaking details of when his son told him a man was m*lesting him at daycare.
"One night, I put my son to bed and he tells me things that are happening to him at his daycare," Velasquez said on the @ShawnRyan762 show.
"Just seeing my son and seeing all the traumas now come out because he’s disclosed this. Seeing that hurt in him, breaking down, crying… The daycare, the mom and the stepdad that ran it... They let it all happen."
Velasquez says he hit a boiling point after he filed a report against the daycare and alleged abuser, Harry Goularte, only to find out that the daycare was opening back up.
"We did all this and it’s still not going to get stopped... The system f*cking sucks. It’s broken."
Velasquez said he went for a drive to clear his mind and, by chance, saw the alleged abuser and his stepfather in a car. After a conversation with God, the UFC fighter said he lost the will to live.
"I lost it. I f*cking lost a will to live. Didn’t care about dying, didn’t care about anything. I was in a different place in that moment."
"I went through an 11-mile chase, shooting at them. All of them were guilty, so all of them could have got it... 11-mile chase, two gun clips."
The stepfather, who Velasquez says knew what was going on but did nothing, was hit in the arm and torso.
Velasquez spent nine months in solitary confinement and says his son is doing "amazing" now.
"I see him as the hero in the story, him speaking up."
Shocking development...

Unpopular opinion:
I think it's considerably easier to invest in businesses you understand than in technology companies, and there are several reasons for that.
Technology evolves at an extraordinary pace. You could quit your job tomorrow, spend every waking hour following industry developments, and still struggle to keep up with everything happening.
It's also incredibly complex. Unless you're an engineer or have substantial industry expertise, understanding the technology itself is difficult enough. Understanding what each development means for a company's competitive position, margins and long-term prospects is another challenge entirely.
Then there's disruption. A company might spend decades building a competitive advantage, only to see a technological breakthrough threaten much of that advantage within a few years.
And even if you correctly identify the winning technology, you still need to figure out which companies will actually capture the profits. Those aren't necessarily the companies developing the best products.
Compare that with a business making cheesecakes.

Yesterday's earnings call with Reddit's CEO will be referenced for years to come.
Reddit, $RDDT, is now down -42% in 8 trading days.
AI has disrupted search, and the internet more broadly, forever.
Our thoughts on this are included below.
Reddit's earnings call has exposed the new reality for thousands of companies.
"AI mode does not drive traffic. Not for us and not to anybody as far as I know. It used to be a traffic driver. Now it's not." - Reddit CEO.
The reality is that AI is fundamentally changing the way that humans access the internet.
Just 24 hours prior to this statement, Google's stock erased -$480 billion on the same issue: AI is disrupting the traditional search model.
For decades, the internet operated on a simple model. Search engines directed users to websites, and those websites monetized the traffic.
AI is destroying this business model, and it's happening at an accelerating pace.
The traditional model of internet traffic is rapidly becoming outdated.
The internet has entered a new era.

UFC referee Mike Beltran recently retired from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department after nearly 32 years.
After serving in the US Marine Corps, he joined law enforcement. His roles included deputy, training officer, gang suppression team member, deep undercover operative, and detective, capped by his final six years as a Task Force Officer with the DEA.
From jails and streets to complex narcotics investigations, the East LA/Downey native brought the same discipline, street smarts, and never quit mentality he honed in uniform into the octagon, where he’s known for his calm authority and fighter first approach.
Now fully focused on MMA, Beltran’s dual career stands as a rare bridge between protecting communities and protecting fighters inside the cage.
I think that would be pretty cool — @Alistairovereem

It’s that simple to steal $6 billion??
Morning: ICE, owner of the NYSE, builds on Hyperliquid.
Evening: Binance loses $6.3B.
Crypto in one day. One step forward, one step back.
The morning part is huge. ICE signed a deal to run a US-regulated perpetual futures market built on Hyperliquid, and took a stake in Trade[XYZ], the team behind it. Wall Street's biggest exchange operator is choosing crypto rails.
About 9 hours later, most of $6.3B left Binance's hot wallets across 10 blockchains in about 20 minutes. It's the largest crypto theft on record, about 4x the $1.5B Bybit hack.
So how the hell does the world's biggest exchange get hit like this?
Binance says a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop gave the attacker access to a service container, which then sent withdrawals nobody approved. Later, it found more points of breach. The attacker didn't steal the keys; it controlled the system that tells the keys what to sign.
If a single hacked laptop can even get a whiff of the control system, something’s seriously wrong. That’s a huge security screw-up by Binance, and I’d never keep my money there.
On-chain investigators are pointing at North Korea's TraderTraitor group, the same crew behind Bybit. Binance hasn't said who did it.
The less bad news: about $3B is frozen, mostly stablecoins the issuers locked. The other roughly $2.4B, over 420,000 ETH and 18,270 BTC, is out of anyone's reach.
Binance says users won't lose a cent. It set aside $6.34B of its own money to cover it. Withdrawals are paused and should be back in about 45 to 48 hours.
The sell to Wall Street is that crypto can finally handle real capital, and ICE is supposed to be the exhibit A. Then a $6B hack happens and drags the story right back into the mud. Security matters more than ever, yet Binance’s security operations feel paper-thin.
Honestly, anyone running multisig is ahead of them on basic protection. The takeaway for everyone else: don’t blindly trust any crypto exchange, but self-custody isn’t realistic for everyone, either. It looks like the existing players will have to solve that trade-off for their users.

Is he having to sell GBP today? If we’re playing that game, if Zuffa had to be sold today, what does it fetch? What is LIV golf worth right now? Interesting how you moved the goal post from 3 fighters who had issues with him to “what if he had to sell today?”
