I don't know who needs to hear this, but a "mild covid infection" that results in chronic, lifelong disability is not—and will never be—a mild covid infection.

Are we allowed to keep shitposting about the BC election? Asking for a friend

The very fact that we could watch what happened to the Democrats to the south in 2024 and Eby and the BCNDP could not understand this, nor understand that it could happen to them, is wild. It's the same pattern.
Eby lost this election through multiple egregious mistakes, arrogance & lack of political skill. But we also need to see his catastrophic loss as proof of what happens when "progressives" swing to the right. Eby is not the first centrist to be shown this. #bcpoli

Whatever anger those on the left are feeling towards former premier David Eby tonight, it's not enough.

I’m inviting all progressive voters to join us in this election. If you’ve voted Green in the past, we share a lot of the same values, and there’s too much at stake right now. In 11 seats last time, the Green vote was the difference between a Conservative and a New Democrat. We can stop Conservative cuts and build B.C. strong if we stand together.

one reason you don't call a provincial election in the middle of all the city elections is that if you wait for the city elections to play out you can check if there's, say, a broad anti-incumbent voting trend across the province

The number of people who don’t understand how universal programs help all families - and are a net POSITIVE for all of society - is mind boggling. See also: universal lunch universal healthcare universal Disability supports for kids
Wrong. The $10aDay child care plan was never designed to be a targeted program just for struggling parents. It is meant to be a universal program that all families can access in their community, just like Kindergarten.

That's great I love libraries, but I'm also still waiting for the hospital tower the BC NDP promised to build us during the last election (and then cancelled immediately after they formed the new government). Promises are easy! Promises are cheap! bcndp.ca/releases/david-eby-…
Yes! A re-elected BC NDP government will permanently double provincial funding for B.C.’s public libraries, from $14 million to $28 million a year.

Reading this post by Alex Partridge is so gutting. Esp when @Dave_Eby @jbtwickens @bcndp are cutting supports to #BCPoli Autistic kids w ADHD w/out an IDD, even tho science shows they are more likely to die by suicide, esp girls. youtube.com/post/UgkxM8_Ox2Q… news.ki.se/autism-linked-to-…

Does anyone know if today’s announcement included an update on how many tens of thousands of hectares of old growth forests have been destroyed in the six years since the @bcndp last made this commitment? #bcpoli
Today in Courtenay I committed to protecting the place we call home, for our kids and grandkids. The first thing British Columbians will tell you they love about our province is its natural beauty. It’s the forests we walk in and the lakes we swim in, and it’s the fresh food we eat and the clean water we drink. Our plan will: 1. Protect 30% of B.C.’s land by 2030, working with Prime Minister Carney 2. Invest $30 million a year to keep our rivers and drinking water healthy 3. Set strict new water standards for AI data centres, so big tech never comes at the expense of local communities 4. Permanently protect the rarest, most irreplaceable old-growth forests 5. Finalize a historic new marine conservation area in the Great Bear Sea Once we lose natural spaces, we may never get them back. The BC Conservatives keep adding candidates who deny climate change. Their newest one calls it “fear mongering propaganda.” They’d roll back protections and have pushed for a heavy oil pipeline to our north coast. We can’t afford that.

High risk person here 🙋‍♀️ & caregiver to high risk persons. Haven’t received invitations for any person in our household. 🙃 Tell me again, why this can’t be done through doctors offices, also, as it always used to be? @Dave_Eby making healthcare more accessible… how, exactly?
Replying to @InspiredAquaCA
BC has: "almost two million doses of this season’s flu vaccine and 1.5 million doses of an updated COVID-19 vaccine based on the uptake last season" They'll start next Tuesday with priority groups "... while they’ll expand to the general population in early November"

Here is Dr. Henry's presser today on BC's fall vaccine program. For some inexplicable reason it is an unlisted "secret" video on YouTube. I can't think of any good reason for the @bcndp to hide this when they should want everyone to see it 🤷‍♂️ #bcpoli youtube.com/live/m-eB5GLBwSA…

Ontario says Novavax will be available only in limited quantities at pharmacies. And it is for individuals for whom an mRNA vaccine is contraindicated. From what I've been hearing we can expect something very similar in BC.
This just landed in my inbox😊 Novavax will be available in LIMITED QUANTITIES ...& only in PHARMACIES & Public health units

.@Josie_Osborne, @JM_Whiteside talking about how BC needs leaders who follow the science. Meanwhile (see QT). BCians can't access flu or C0VID vaccines right now, and none of us have been able to access Novavax for 2.5 years. So. Again, check your own backyard first. #BCPoli
Swiss Health now recommending Covid vaccinations in September. (Rather than waiting like BC does until late October or November when it's already too late for a lot of people)

.@David_eby: "No Safe Supply!" BC Judge: "...their compassion club reduced the harms associated with the toxic drug crisis." Remember when David Eby fought for civil rights? #BCPoli
Huge news! Charges against Eris Nyx and Jeremy Kalicum, founders of Drug User Liberation Front, stayed! Judge found parts of Canada's drug laws are unconstitutional and that their compassion club reduced the harms associated with the toxic drug crisis. cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…
