A powerful confluence is happening among the bioregional weavers of Europe. We have been immersed in a tapestry of workshops and site visits here in the Netherlands for the last two days.
Check out what we are doing. Be inspired. Get involved. Share with your friends.

The ideal outcome for science isn't a couple of labs using proprietary models and millions of dollars to crack trophy problems, it's to have millions of AI-aided human scientists who follow their curiosity and become way more ambitious
We underestimate how much human potential gets crushed by the struggle to survive. Somewhere, there’s a genius working double shifts who hasn’t had the energy to create anything in months because they’re too fucking exhausted just trying to stay afloat.

I’m starting to get increasingly uncomfortable with the economics of AI as it is currently happening
It seems fundamentally wrong that a small number of people with access to a huge amounts of VC money can vacuum up all the contributions of humanity, often paying nothing for it, then turn around and get enormously rich while the many people who put all the work into creating the training data get nothing
I am generally pro-AI, but the way it is happening is seeming increasingly parasitic to me

We are really learning a lot about what it means to live regeneratively in the south of France. I just wrote this article to share a glimpse into our experiences in Tarn et Garonne through the last several days.
Hope you enjoy it!

The disappearance of places where you’re allowed to just exist without spending money deserves way more attention.

If ai can create it end to end, you're not gonna be able to sell it
That's almost definitionally true at this point, crazy some of you can't see that

The idea that higher education should only be pursued as a way to make as much money as possible is evidence we’ve entirely lost the plot of what it means to be human

If AI is unaligned it's because we are unaligned
If two people fully disagree with each other there is no generative model that you can train to be aligned with BOTH minds

Been thinking about this:
Everyone is trying to sell the $1500 permaculture design.
Instead, sell them the smallest way to get from
Point A to Point B.
The Zone 1 design instead of the entire property. Then if they like it, build on that.
Sort of like the coffee/tea ceremony. The barter.
Historically, people have never started with the most expensive item.
Initially find common ground. “I am from…”
“I am John’s son.”
Bring out one item of lesser value. Decide or agree on that. Then build on that negotiation. Trust.
Deliver that win. Then build on it.

Today, we launched the Planetary Health Check 2026. Seven of nine Planetary Boundaries are transgressed, and pressure on all seven is at its highest recorded level.
Yet, we still have a window to change course. But we need to move fast.

In science circles there’s not enough spirituality and in spirituality circles there isn’t enough science. It’s time to change this.

We live on a planet where tiny creatures can light up the darkness with their own bodies.
And somehow people still look at nature like it is disposable. We really do not appreciate how insane it is that we get to live here.
People worry that AI will take all our jobs.
But what they don’t see is that to the extent this happens, it will ultimately also take away much of the economic value attached to those jobs.
In a world where all those jobs are fully automated, what people value will shift to the things only humans can offer.
Suddenly we might find that society starts to place a lot more economic value on spiritual work, shamanic work, psychological / emotional work, social organising, experience design, attuned human presence etc.
There definitely could be a very painful lag period where economic value hasn’t yet caught up to the new reality.
But once it does, there’s a very real possibility that economic value shifts from a bunch of stuff none of us really, truly in our deepest hearts care much about in the first place towards the things that truly make us human.
Which may not be a bad thing.
