🚨 OUT NOW.
In 2020, Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad were deep in sessions for their second album together as The Midnight Hour. Then the world shut down. The recordings were shelved, and the two pivoted to build the jazz label of their dreams: Jazz Is Dead.

"it is also important to think about the Blues, as less a generic form of Black music, but as an aesthetic resource — a sonic and performative archive, if you will — that would inform future Black music, such as R&B."

Read this article when you get a chance to. The NYPD has its own intelligence agency. A massive problem.

Africa is not poor. Africa is rich & all the colonizers, oppressors & vampires know this. #Congo’s resources belong to Africa. Whether it’s Gaza or Venezuela the land & resources belong to oppressed people.

8 days. No power. No sleep.
Families in Gary, Indiana are staying up all night to watch over their own homes and cars — in pitch black. The city that's nearly 85% Black, has been left to fend for itself while over 83,000 buildings and homes across Northwest Indiana are STILL without electricity. Some won't see their lights back on until next Tuesday.
Content creators are spreading the news across social platforms including Keith Lee who recently contacted the mayor's office to get supplies to Gary.
Spoiled food. Missed work. Exhausted residents trying to make it through the night, and get back to normal.
Indiana needs help. Click the link in our bio for access to official relief organizations.

For FIFTY YEARS after slavery ended, Black newspapers ran a special kind of classified ad and they are the most heartbreaking documents in American print.
They were called "Lost Friends" and "Information Wanted" ads. Freed people, searching for family sold away decades earlier.
Mothers describing children by a scar on a knee, a song they hummed, the name of the trader who drove them off. Husbands naming a wife last seen at an auction in 1849. Grown men searching for a mother whose face they'd carried since age six.
One New Orleans paper's column was read aloud from the pulpits of some 800 churches — so the ads could reach people who could not read, in every congregation, every Sunday.

I’m an African and I stand in solidarity with all indigenous and other oppressed peoples on this planet
“It is the greatest kept secret in America and throughout the world today,” says Howard Miller, president of the Mardi Gras Indian Council and is what’s known as a big chief in the community. “These cultures date back to the slavery days.” cbsn.ws/4bLm9Ni
