Somebody help me understand this, because what I’m hearing is complete and total disdain for American culture. First of all, I’m genuinely sorry that his parents never showed up for his games, but that’s no reason to tear down another man because his did. Showing up for our children is part of American culture. We fill the bleachers, wear their numbers, and celebrate their accomplishments, even when they’re riding the pine. That’s what proud parents do. And that “type” of mom he’s mocking? That’s an American mom. She wears her son’s jersey, cheers until she’s hoarse, and celebrates him win or lose, whether he’s the star player or gets minimal playing time. What’s disturbing is that he sees unconditional parental love and encouragement as something worthy of ridicule. This has absolutely nothing to do with being a brown kid. If he grew up feeling like he was never enough, that’s something he needs to unpack with a therapist, not project onto another man and his family on a podcast. And frankly, if his understanding of American culture is so warped that he openly ridicules one of its most recognizable family traditions, I have serious concerns about him being anywhere near a position of power in this country. We need leaders who understand and respect the people they’re supposed to represent, not people who sneer at the way American families raise and support their children. He feels sorry for Pete Hegseth? Sir, I pity you. 😞
