When a Muslim Brotherhood member wins a Senate race, that’s NOT DEMOCRACY; that’s USEFUL IDIOTS hating their own country. When the mullahs in Iran took over, socialists helped them, and later, the Islamists killed them all. This is the most dangerous moment for Western civilization. GOD BLESS AMERICA.
U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is a dark chapter in this great nation’s history.
And as the Bible warns:
“For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” — Galatians 6:7 (KJV)
Be careful what you plant in the name of democracy. You may not enjoy the harvest.

Former PBO Yves Giroux is making excellent sense
After decades inside government, he’s calling for real discipline and a comprehensive program review that actually closes things that have run their course
Giroux:
• “Discipline is clearly warranted.”
• “The answer to every issue that Canadians face cannot be ‘we’ll hire more public servants.’”
• “The sun never sets on federal programs… it’s very difficult to wind down a program that has reached the end of its useful life.”
• “Sometimes you no longer need to support a certain group… They can be self-sustaining.”
• “We’re due for a strong, very comprehensive program review… Do we need government interventions in all that the government is intervening in?”
Straightforward realism from someone who’s been there. Programs shouldn’t last forever by default @Campbellian_
“A government that wants to spend will always find a crisis or a reason to spend beyond its means,” says former parliamentary budget officer Yves Giroux.
The former federal budget watchdog offered his reflections in the lead-up to Budget 2026, which is widely expected to layer further onto Canada’s ever-growing national debt.
In 2025, the public accounts of Canada put the accumulated national debt at more than $1.2 trillion.
Since then, the 2026 Spring Economic Update doubled down on plans to add to this debt — forecasting a deficit of $66.9 billion for fiscal year 2025–26, and continued deficits for the foreseeable future.
Beyond these annual deficits lies a bigger story: the national debt continues to rise, both in absolute terms and as a share of GDP.
The stakes are particularly high for younger generations who will be left holding the bill. It’s a serious issue across many Western democracies that have become addicted to spending beyond their means.
To unpack this, Giroux joins Inside Policy Talks.
On the podcast, he tells Ian Campbell (@Campbellian_), digital editor at MLI, that one of the key problems is a lack of discipline.
“Whenever you stop a program, there are beneficiaries, stakeholders who are upset,” said Giroux, who spent decades in the civil service at Finance Canada, the Privy Council Office, and the Canada Revenue Agency before serving as parliamentary budget officer from 2018–2025.
“But sometimes you no longer need to support a certain group or segment of the population,” he said. “They can be self-sustaining.”
"So, I think we're due for a strong, very comprehensive program review to look at, ‘Do we need government interventions in all that the government is intervening in.’”

C-22 was sold as lawful access for telecom and ISPs. At the Senate this week, government officials said its service provider definition is broader than any comparable country they examined, including gaming platforms with chat functions and AI services.

Hydro-Quebec is struggling with low water levels in its reservoirs, pushing it to buy electricity on external markets — including US spot markets. Even if water levels return to normal by 2028, the utility assumes it might have to import more than it exports until 2041 as growing energy demand will outpace supply.
👀 TC Energy’s natural gas power plant in Becancour will be upgraded as part of the energy mix rollout; it has been essentially out of service since it was commissioned in 2006.
Hydro-Quebec, a Canadian renewable-energy powerhouse with major US export contracts, is stretching an investment plan by six years to 2041. Until then, it anticipates potentially being a net importer of electricity bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
