Rabbi Hannah is not only a gem of our community, she performed my eldest daughter's Bat Mitzvah. She was arrested for performing a tenet of Judaism, Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). Jerusalem has lost the plot.
I’ve just learned @bradlander is the second person I know on that bus. My own congregation’s rabbi, wonderful Rabbi Hannah of DC’s Hill Havurah—who told us about this trip during Yom Kippur services—has also been detained as part of this peace-seeking mission. Godspeed to them.

The term "shylock" was said by the President of the United States, but he's not mentioned here because we don't, apparently, go hard after right wing antisemites anymore as long as they support Bibi-ism.
This is the perfect example of why the left Jewish community is upset by our communal organizations.
The term “Shylock” is rooted in a longstanding antisemitic stereotype. Regardless of intent, its use can reinforce harmful tropes about Jews and normalize language that has long been used to target the Jewish community.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Trump used “Shylock” at a Kansas rally Oct. 19 defending Sen. Marshall. ADL’s post omits naming him, unlike its 2025 statement.

The Torah commands that when a foreigner resides with you in your land, we do not mistreat them. AES isn't even a foreigner--he was born in Rochester Hills, MI, and yet so many of these attacks read like boilerplate antisemitism, just with Islam swapped in for Judaism.
Unless Abdul El-Sayed can unequivocally condemn the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, SJP, the IRGC, and Hasan Piker, Barack Obama should absolutely not campaign with him.
I understand and support the drive to win majorities in Congress, but we Democrats will be doing immeasurable harm to ourselves if we drop all standards and violate our best principles in pursuit of that goal.
If you're eager for a world in which Kfir Bibas and Hind Rajab were likelier to meet on a playground than in the afterlife, I can't recommend avoiding social media highly enough today.
In a week where leftists have unleashed semi-lucid hate toward Zohran Mamdani, Abdul El-Sayed, and now Mehdi Hassan for failing their purity test horseshit, it’s abundantly clear why the @SarahLongwell25 crowd gets so much more credit from normie Dems.

This is a gut punch. Dukem and the lamentably long gone Etete did a lot of the heavy lifting in putting DC's Ethiopian restaurant scene on the map.

The seagull. Commonly found on the coasts, loud, and don't do anything useful.
We're getting awfully close to the Days of Awe, which are Judaism's holiest days of the calendar. As we approach the High Holidays, I hope we remember that when the forces behind these kinds of attacks are done with Muslims in the US, we're next.
As the nation prepares to mark 25 years since Sept. 11, 2001, Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh political attack. cbsn.ws/4ycfaWy
We can oppose Trump for the 99% of other things he does, acknowledge that the process for this event could be improved, and still think this a race like this is a net positive for the District...and would be even better if it was an F1 race. I will die on this hill.
I had the most vivid nightmare last night. Get this--I dreamt that the vaunted Celtics front office traded away a 29-yo generational talent for the corpse of a former star and some punctured basketballs. Wild, right?

We believe in a politics of persuasion and believe Americans can disagree without division.
Your platform is huge! But it leverages division for profit. As I said originally, I’m happy to do a public Zoom with you or @ahSHEEK for a good faith discussion. - @FelixFrisch6
This is the way. Bravo, Congressman.
We disagree with MAGA. We disagree with socialism. We believe the vast majority of Americans want common-sense, mainstream leadership, not political extremism.

Echoing this. My expectation all along has been that JLG would be an unmitigated disaster, but not since thinking the House was out of reach in 2006 would I be so ecstatic to be completely wrong.
Congratulations to @Janeese4DC! She ran the better campaign that centered joy, possibility, and a positive vision for what DC can be.
My genuine hope is that she’ll apply that vision in a pragmatic way that takes into account the realities DC faces. It is in our collective best interest as Washingtonians to wish her and the administration she’s set to build the utmost success. 💜

You don't need to couch your condemnation of Maureen Galindo in mealy-mouthed caveats about the difference between anti-zionism and antisemitism.
She clearly hates Jewish people, and she clearly uses "anti-zionist" as a stand-in for antisemitic, just as so many of us have warned would continue to happen.
For people like this, it was never about Zionism. They use "anti-zionist" as a convenient vehicle and an anesthetized label for them to hate Jewish people.
It's about their hatred for Jewish people. It's about their support of anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.
People like Maureen Galindo do absolutely nothing to direct their rage at evangelicals with zionist views, who, by the way, make up the vast majority of zionists in this country.
But she and hateful people like her are never focused on evangelicals in their "anti-zionist" propaganda.
Because for them, it's about Jewish people.
It's always, somehow, only about Jewish people.
It always comes back to their hatred solely for the Jewish community.
Stop tolerating these sociopaths.
