“We’re going to vote you out.” A woman shouted that as Roger Marshall ended his town hall in Oakley on March 1, 2025. That was 591 days ago. It remains his last reported open, in-person public town hall. Listen to the exchange: CONSTITUENT: “…as far as cutting out those jobs, a huge percentage of those people—and I know you care about the veterans—are veterans.” OTHER VOICE: “Yes.” CONSTITUENT: “And that is a damn shame.” OTHER VOICES: “Yes. Yeah.” CONSTITUENT: “I’m not a Democrat, but I’m worried about the veterans.” MARSHALL: “Well, I yielded to one of my—my elders, and I appreciate his comments. I think it’s a great—I’m not gonna—we don’t have time for everyone to stand up. I do got two more commitments today. Appreciate everybody making the drive out, and God bless America.” VOICE FROM THE CROWD: “We’re gonna vote you out!” He ended the meeting early without answering that man’s concern about veterans losing their jobs. Since then, Marshall voted to send more troops to Trump’s war in Iran. He voted for cuts to Healthcare and food assistance for Kansans. He defended tariffs and a trade war hurting farmers, even acknowledging the “short-term pain.” Kansas families have been living with the consequences.
