The situation in #Gaza is desperate. Please let everything possible be done to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe. The possible widening of the conflict is disturbing. Let the weapons be silenced; let the cry for peace be heard from the poor, from the people, from the children!

In the 1980s, the US experienced one billion+ dollar extreme weather event every 4 months. Nowadays? There's one every 3 weeks and @YaleClimateComm's latest poll shows this is American's #1 concern when it comes to climate impacts. Source: climatecommunication.yale.ed…
Don't miss Bill McKibben's latest on the substack,
"Energy from Heaven"
I've had a like/hate relationship with Twitter, but it feels as if one of those emotions is growing stronger.
So I'm glad that I have a Substack project, free for all to read (and very glad that some people pay the modest, voluntary fee to keep it going)

We are horrified by the recent Israeli bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital in #Gaza City, which was treating patients and hosting displaced Gazans. Hundreds of people have reportedly been killed. This is a massacre. It is absolutely unacceptable...
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This was posted on the 17th without there being any conclusive evidence. On the 18th it was debunked. Missile being shot at Israel broke up and parts crashed into the hospital parking lot. Nowhere near 500 killed.

Four or Five Republican can literally change the future for America and the world. With so many collapsing into a heap of fear, are the 5 brave ones left? (I’m told there still are). Be a Churchill or resign

The @UN has stocks available of food, water, medical supplies & fuel in Egypt, Jordan, the West Bank & Israel.
They can be dispatched within hours.
To ensure delivery, our staff need to be able to bring these supplies into and throughout Gaza safely, and without impediment.

James Hansen sounded the climate alarm in 1988. To this day, emissions are rising. His latest paper announces the era of "accelerated warming". Focusing on the average anomaly of the past 4 months of +0.44°C, he warns:
"If this relative anomaly is maintained through this El Nino (through Northern Hemisphere 2024 spring) the peak 12-month mean global warming will reach +1.6-1.7°C relative to 1880-1920. Decline of global temperature following an El Nino peak is 0.20.3°C. Thus, if this El Nino peak is as high as we project it will be, global temperature will oscillate about the yellow region in Fig. 2. The 1.5°C global warming level will have been reached, for all practical purposes. There will be no need to ruminate for 20 years about whether the 1.5°C level has been reached, as IPCC proposes"

I’m horrified to see the bombing of al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza and unequivocally condemn it. I urge the Israeli government to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and reiterate the call for a ceasefire. I am directing $300K to three charities helping Palestinian people under attack.

we who long to see peace in the Middle East might wonder why the #HolyLand, home of 3 major religions, is rife with hatred, violence. how bout Rabbis, Imams, Priests—holding joint prayer vigils for peace? or women faith leaders in joint appeals to save kids' lives? #salaamshalom

I am horrified by the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in a strike on a hospital in Gaza today, which I strongly condemn. My heart is with the families of the victims. Hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law.
