I work at OpenAI. In my personal capacity, I also think we need to slow down.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Founder asked me for some advice today about the very common founder CEO feeling of getting punched in the face... if I had any secrets for dealing with it. The answer is I don't, really, and I think of that great Churchill quote: "If you're going through hell, keep going."

My agent just finished a long siloed code session with "Go rest your injured foot, I've got it from here." It knew I had injured my foot from healthcare provider emails, but it was still a "whoa" moment for it to decide to throw that detail in there.

"Some routine tasks like coding will route back to Opus 4.8" 🫠
Claude Fable 5 will be available again globally tomorrow. After a series of productive conversations with the US government, we're redeploying the model with a new set of classifiers to target and block more cybersecurity tasks. In the near term, some routine tasks like coding and debugging will fall back to Opus 4.8. We’ll continue to refine these classifiers over the coming weeks to reduce false positives and better distinguish genuine misuse from legitimate requests. We’ve also begun drafting a consensus framework—with Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and other Glasswing partners—for assessing the severity of AI jailbreaks and how AI developers should respond to them. We invite other industry partners and model providers to join us in this effort. Finally, we’re scaling up our collaboration with the US government on model testing and safeguards. This will include pre-release access to models and safeguards for evaluation, information sharing on jailbreaks and misuse, and dedicated resources for joint research. Thank you to our users for your patience, and to our partners across the government, industry, and the research community who worked alongside us to make Fable 5 available again. Figma should position itself as the visual canvas for all creative work (not just creative professionals). The canvas is the solution to the endless wall of text issue with LLMs. From that lens, @figma has infinite room to grow.

Claude Tag feels a little more "claudecode everywhere" than "claude everywhere"

So now that we're getting tired of "Agents" can we just go back to "Apps"? Way less confusing to explain to mom & dad.

I ship products solo with a fleet of AI workflows. Best tools on earth, all closed, all rented. The day open weights catch them is the day independent builders stop being tenants.

"AI is the great equalizer" holds right up until you remember the equalizer is a metered API owned by corporations and restricted by governments. Leverage you don't own isn't leverage. It's rent. Open weights are the only seat at the table you can't be removed from.

Google Brain founder, Andrew Ng: "100% of my tasks are done by ai agents, self-improving loops are next. Give it 3-6 months and prompting is gone." 31 minutes of clear explanation on building self-improving agents from scratch. Worth more than any $500 agentic course. Watch it, then read the full guide on loops below.

Prompt Engineer < Process Designer

My 10x (ish) productivity boost in the last year is due to the difference of acting on 1% of my thoughts vs 2-3% of my thoughts (due to LLMs / agents, etc). Imagine what'd happen if we could act on 100% of our thoughts, just by thinking them. ...when*
