Thread of short recipes from my mother:
When my mother first became a snowbird at my house in Florida, she decided to learn how to use a computer by writing a cookbook for the family. Her cookbook is full of family stories and memories as well as recipes.

A plane crashes in Florida, lives are lost, and within HOURS the blue-checkmark crowd is blaming a female pilot and screaming “DEI.” Here's the problem: They don't understand how a two-pilot cockpit works. As a pilot, I'm disgusted. Watch this before you embarrass yourself.

The world is watching! Friends from Switzerland reached out to wish us luck for a Blue Wave and thank Trib and me for working so hard for @AngieNixon. Hey Dems, get out and vote. We know the GOP shows up on election day, so we need to bank as many votes as possible now.

Where I see things in FL on Jags Victory Sunday. Lot of things to like if you are a Dem. And if you are a Republican, a lot of potential voters out there on Tuesday. The question of where this lands is a question of how many show up Link: open.substack.com/pub/manoff…

Dr. Roger Marshall’s closing argument is sixty seconds of him explaining why sending single mothers to collections at 18% interest on their medical bills was actually fine.

Aside from being the candidate of data center interests, Byron Donalds is receiving six-figure donations from for-profit prisons that want to continue buying off Florida’s government in Tallahassee.
According to the last week's report, Byron Donalds received an additional $1 million from the GEO Group, one of the nation’s largest private prison and immigration detention contractors with significant financial interests in FL. They've now donated a total $4.5 million to Byron.

Mr Trump wavering on the edge of a terrible strategic mistake. The MidTerms may deliver a Democratic Congress in January. The US blockade has not collapsed the economy. 20,000 air sorties have not opened the Gulf. Trump now planning a three day renewed air war in November. It will be an escalation disaster.

All right, I tried to curate a fairly representative cross-section of 13 FLIPR maps for what might happen on Tuesday night. Warning: the last 3 or 4 are deliberately weird! Here's one that came up when the polls were in the 95th percentile of accuracy, however.

Breaking and very sad news -- Sen. Chris Murphy is hospitalized following a stroke, an aide to the Connecticut Democrat confirmed Sunday. His staff began notifying people Saturday afternoon of the hospitalization and stroke, a person told POLITICO at the time. “Yesterday afternoon, Senator Murphy started experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son’s hockey game. He was taken to a local hospital, where it was discovered he had experienced a stroke,” Allison Herwitt, Murphy’s chief of staff, said in a statement. “He was transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring and is responding well to treatment. The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery,” she added. Murphy, who is viewed as a potential 2028 White House candidate, has been traveling the country to campaign for candidates, including recent stops in Michigan, Minnesota and Florida. He had been previously scheduled to attend campaign events in New Hampshire on Sunday. more w/ @jordainc politico.com/news/2026/11/01…

Ten million people have watched an MIT professor accidentally destroy the executive coaching industry. He filmed the lecture once in January 2018 and died eighteen months later. Executive coaches charge fifteen thousand dollars a session to teach a third of what he covered in one hour for free. His name was Patrick Winston. He ran the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory from 1972 to 1997 and wrote the AI textbook every computer science major in the world read for thirty years. Every January for four decades, he gave a lecture called "How to Speak." His entire framework fits on a napkin. Do not read. Be in the image. Keep images simple. Eliminate clutter. Start with an empathetic connection. End with a punch line the audience can repeat over dinner. Never open with a joke. Never end with "thank you." That last rule alone has probably cost the executive coaching industry a hundred million dollars. "Your success in life will be determined largely by your ability to speak, your ability to write, and the quality of your ideas. In that order." That is the actual opening line of the lecture. Winston believed it strongly enough to spend fifty years teaching computer scientists how to talk. Founders spend $80,000 on an MBA and then hire a communications coach to teach them the same material Winston filmed once for free. Engineers write brilliant code and lose promotions to teammates who watched this lecture on the train. The lecture is free on MIT OpenCourseWare. The textbook is free on his page. Winston died in 2019. Almost none of the ten million viewers have actually implemented the four rules on the napkin. The napkin is free. The willingness to actually use it in your next meeting is the entire edge.

Dear MAGA, since you're always asking me, "What laws has Trump violated. Be specific." HERE IS A COMPREHENSIVE LIST 1) The Principle of Non-refoulement is an international law prohibiting a state from returning a person to a place where they would face a real risk of persecution, torture, or other serious harm. SEE - 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees, which the U.S ratified in 1968. 2) The Convention Against Torture (CAT) prohibits the removal of any person to a country where they would more likely than not be subjected to torture. Signed by the U.S.: April 18, 1988 Ratified by the U.S.: October 21, 1994 Enforced in the U.S.: November 20, 1994 3) The Refugee Act of 1980 prohibits the return of a refugee to a country where their life or freedom would be threatened. 4) INA § 241(b)(3) states that the U.S. cannot remove an alien to a country if it's determines that the alien's life or freedom would be threatened in that country. 5) Foreign Affairs Reform and Restructuring Act of 1998 (FARRA) - codified 8 U.S.C. § 1231 - states the U.S can NOT expel, extradite, or otherwise effect the involuntary return of any person to a country in which there are substantial grounds for believing the person would be in danger of being subjected to torture. 6) Article I, Section 4, Clause 1 (Election Clause) by attempting to control federal elections and intimidate State and election officials. 7) Article I, Section 8 - Congress' authority to create and/or abolish government agencies/offices - by creating DOGE via Executive Order and by dismantling government agencies WITHOUT Congressional approval or involvement. 8) Article I, Section 9 , Clause 8 - the Emoluments Clause - prohibits any person holding a government office from accepting any present, emolument , office, or title from any "King, Prince, or foreign State ," without congressional consent. 9) 1st Amendment free speech clause by silencing the scientific community - via Executive Order - and by trying to silence the media by kicking out certain media from the press room and by filing frivolous lawsuits. 10) 5th Amendment for violating due process rights of immigrants. Which is confirmed by the U.S Supreme Court in two separate rulings. 11) 10th Amendment by sending ICE agents into sanctuary cities. Under Printz v. United State, the Federal government "may neither issue directives requiring the States to address particular problems, nor command the States’ officers, or those of their political subdivisions, to administer or enforce a federal regulatory program." — thus, protecting sanctuary cities. 12) 14th Amendment Section 1 - the birthright citizenship clause - by signing an Executive Order attempting to end the protections of birthright citizenship. 13) 5 USC § 403 by illegally firing 18 Inspectors General's from the Defense Department, State Department, Health and Human Services Department and the Department of Labor. 14) 8 USC § 1373, the courts have ruled that this law cannot compel local law enforcement to act as immigration agents. 15) 18 U.S.C. § 4 – Misprision of Felony, by "having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony" in regards to covering up the Epstein files. 16) 18 U.S. Code § 401 for blatantly ignoring and disobeying an immigration Court ruling, a U.S. District Court ruling, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruling. @realDonaldTrump and this regime have blatantly defied, disobeyed, and ignored FIVE federal court orders, thus far. 17) 18 U.S.C. § 1505 by "willfully withholds, misrepresents, removes from any place, conceals, covers up, destroys, mutilates, alters, or by other means falsifies any documentary material" in regards to the Epstein files. 18) The Posse Comitatus Act by deploying active military armed forces on U.S. soil. 19) The War Powers Resolution Act by NOT consulting with Congress nor meeting the threshold in order to bomb Iran without consulting Congress. When Obama’s NSA and FBI were caught unlawfully spying on Americans everywhere, I led the charge to shut down their unconstitutional program. Mike Rogers led the charge to excuse and defend the government’s actions and to enshrine Patriot Act and FISA abuses in law. He then worked (and failed) to oust me from Congress because, as an ardent defender of the Constitution, I was constantly standing in his way. During his time in Congress, no member acted with such unbridled hostility to the Bill of Rights as Mike Rogers. In these midterms, there can be no greater win for the American people than to keep him out of the U.S. Senate.
