As @halfplanetpress I typically go for print first, then eBook, as we want to make paperbacks special again. For the same reason hardbacks only happen after a certain sales goal. For accessibility, we will release eBooks early if someone asks though.

One reason to go for eBooks first is how easy it is. You don't even need an ISBN if you are with Amazon, and you can put one together very quickly. The profit margins are rougher though, in my experience (my ads are just as successful for paperback)

I'll add (and I know this will annoy some people) that in self-publishing some authors do the eBook, feel they've done enough, and then move onto the next book. Perhaps due to experience with vanity presses, they mistakenly believe a paperback is expensive to produce

People are out here using "real lived experience" to sell books meanwhile sci-fi authors have to hide the fact that they are from 2078, when the crab people finally took over.

"Show don't tell" is only useful for beginners needing to be pushed away from tell-only stories. It is too sweeping to apply to any more competent writing, as showing and telling are of varying importance depending on the story you are writing. #writingadvice #amwriting
