Neither @JohnHealey_MP nor @andyburnham want to upset their 'Lefties MPs' during the last 3 years of this Government. So will not even try to bring the Welfare Budget down until 2030+. So we'll have 3 years of PM 'soundbites' & increased Government costs. @KemiBadenoch

Sorry @UKLabour. Not feeling the "Hope" and your extremely annoying reference to "breathing space" is becoming claustrophobic. We voted to end gaslighting. Since you enabled this narcissistic "Mayor" and his laughable sidekicks, you've taken "gaslighting" to the next level.

"Andy Burnham's first-time buyer scheme could raise house prices by increasing demand without enough new homes being built"
🚨 SUMMARY: The OBR forecasts following John Healey's Budget - Welfare spending will rise to £431.3bn by 2030/31 - an increase of £97.5bn a year in cash terms - This includes £209.8bn on pensioner benefits, £110.7bn on Universal Credit, £69.6bn on disability benefits, £13.9bn on Child Benefit and £27.2bn on other welfare - Inflation will peak at 3.75% in early 2027, up from the earlier prediction of 2% - UK GDP growth will slow from around 1.25% in 2026 to 1% in 2027, before climbing to 1.6% in 2031 - Average UK unemployment will rise to 5.1% across 2026 and 2027 - The Employment Rights Act will "likely" have a negative economic impact because of reduced flexibility and greater uncertainty for businesses - The landlord tax increases (property income) could contribute to a long-term rise in private rents and discourage landlords from entering the market - Real household disposable income per person will be around 0.75% lower in 2030-31 than it expected in March 2026 - Higher earnings and frozen tax thresholds will increase income tax and National Insurance receipts by £9bn in 2026-27 and around £8bn on average in subsequent forecast years compared with March - Net migration is forecast to fall to 120,000 in the year to mid-2026, then gradually rise to 230,000 by the year to mid-2031 - Nominal weekly earnings growth will slow to around 3.5% in 2026, then average roughly 2.25% a year - Andy Burnham's first-time buyer scheme could raise house prices by increasing demand without enough new homes being built

NOTE to Andy Burnham Cc John Healey. Subject: Hope. In my view the constant reference to "Hope" is becoming tiresome and has outlived its usefulness as a metaphor for delay. "Hope - in reality -is the worst of all evils. because it prolongs the torment" (Nietzsche) #Budget26

@RachelReevesMP inherited Β£22b overspend from Jeremy Hunt & the effects of 14 years of incompetent and often rankly corrupt Tory rule. @JohnHealey_MP inherited Β£24b breathing space from Reeves & the effects of 2 years of @Keir_Starmer's super-competent govt. And he's in a bind?

Healey removing standing charges on gas bills, average saving Β£45 a year. Reminder: Rachel Reeves took Β£150 off energy bills, net Β£117 after price cap rise. #bbcbreakfast #budget26

And presumably the budget will include military spending that's higher than @Keir_Starmer's allocation. Because that's why you resigned and triggered his ousting to get your buddy @andyburnham into Number 10.

Baroness Benefits, Kemi Badenoch has got some front banging on about the benefits bill. Β£2,700 a month to rent a grade II-listed farmhouse with 6 BEDROOMS Β£3000 in ELECTRICITY EXPENSES. Β£4000 for COUNCIL TAX Β£39,400 per year all courtesy of taxpayers. #Budget2026 #PoliticsLive

Kemi Badenoch claims Β£39 400 per year for her personal expenses. Suella Braverman Β£45,000 for water bills alone. Esther McVey, where do we start. It's MPs expenses that need to be curtailed. It's absolutely obscene what some of them are claiming. #PoliticsLive #Budget2026

I Tuned into the Chancellor's budget. I was underwhelmed. I listened to Badenoch's response. I was mildly amused at her playground politics. I tuned out. Deeply disenchanted with UK politicians & worried about the future. That's it. That's my post. #Budget2026

This is a mental health issue A desperation to believe in herself against all evidence A weird Trumpian confusion
The Bank of England bailed out Burnham and sabotaged me. Read all about it in Bank Job.

Burnham and Healey are con merchants. Almost everything they announce is being kicked into the long grass or it’s re-announcing Starmer/Reeves initiatives.
Unpaid carers thrilled to hear from the Chancellor of the 2030 start for the end of the cliff edge which means if they earn 1p over Β£204 a week they lose all their Carers Allowance - until they realise that is the year it begins not the time!

Burnham is not what I call a completer/Finisher is he. Just chucks it all out and waits to see what happens.

Burnham doing it β€œdifferently” appears to be. Incoherently Incompetently Re-announcing policies already announced by Starmer and Reeves And everything he says, No 10 have to clarify and U-turn on after he speaks. What they did was unforgivable. Labour would have won. @LBC
I think the penny is starting to drop across the media. Burnham is quickly making a name for himself with his backtracks and blunders. @dodgson_sally and I talked about it last week. youtu.be/ZPKgLDE7A0E

Like what ? Announcing measures already set out by Starmer ? Speculating on possible policies for post GE29-if Labour is re-elected ? Itsy bitsy tinkering around the existing edges ? Making statements which then have to be clarified? Then clafication issued on the clarification?
In his first 100 days as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham has been tackling the long term problems that have been ignored for far too long and giving people vital breathing space on the cost of living.
