Flags fly at half-mast today across UN offices worldwide.
We remember humanitarian workers killed while helping others. And we stand with those who continue to serve despite the danger.
Attacks on aid workers must end. Those responsible must be held accountable.

We have many more tough than good days in this work. But yesterday, seeing so many trucks moving to Gaza, was a good one. This scale up is direct result of ceasefire agreement. There are many frustrations and complications. We still have mountain to climb. But I’m more hopeful.

"It is a famine. The Gaza Famine.
It is a famine that we could have prevented, if we had been allowed. Yet food stacks up at borders because of systematic obstruction by Israel.
Everyone owns this. The #GazaFamine is the world’s famine."

19 August is #WorldHumanitarianDay.
Last year, we urged leaders to stop the killing of aid workers.
They listened – then looked away.
This year, we sound the alarm with sharper urgency:
❗ Protect humanitarians.
❗ Respect the rules of war.
❗ End impunity.
