We have to stop talking about mental health and addiction being separate issues. Unresolved trauma is the catalyst which brings us into the mental health and addiction spaces. Trauma informed care or trauma informed treatment needs to be the new phrase we use. Solve the trauma solve the mental health and addiction. Trauma leaves us in emotional pain and emotional pain is mental illness. How do you deal with the emotional pain you use addiction as a coping mechanism to numb out or suppress the emotional pain.
