I wonder what the comparison will be to Opus 5.5 or Fable or gpt6.1. An individual company that has the rest of the infrastructure except for intelligence can have a slightly worse model performance and still offer the best service The bitter lesson would mean that intelligence will be better at the model level for the hyperscalers but probably not the service.
We were able to fine tune an open weight model (Qwen3.5-9B) on proprietary internal data at @coinbase, and it out performed frontier models, at much lower cost and speed, for a specialized task (fraud prevention in this case). I think we'll see more of this pattern inside companies. The frontier models are amazing generalists. But increasingly you'll see specialist models out perform on more narrow tasks, either working on teams, or by themselves. We're making it easy to fine tune models internally for our employees. We even have a skill for it in our internal harness that makes it easy to spin these up and start training them: "/fine-tune-and-serve-llm I want to fine-tune Qwen for payments risk review. help me get started" I imagine we'll have some backend services that could be replaced entirely by this new architecture.

This was actually an incredible announcement. The DOW and the DOE are both focused heavily on quantum. The energy was palpable. @atomionics will do our part to ensure a new age in intelligence

This is where media outlets misrepresent clips into something completely different. The whole ceremony was a celebration with the obvious camaraderie between the group. In fact he couldn't have spoken more highly of musk.

Honestly, this is my Coachella excited to hear and discuss about the future of science in the age of AI in DC tomorrow. THE GOLDEN AGE OF DISCOVERY is upon us.

Communication, energy, and defense can't be outsourced. Intelligence is now in the same list. Unless theres a 10x advantage. If you give a killswitch for Communication to a third party then that is a huge sovereignty issue

Wow. The golden age of science. When you think about the intellectual labor that humans used to go through for satisfying our curiosity, it is through the mode of pattern recognition and reasoning. Both of these factors are now going to be done much better by AI, and this essentially means that the questions we ask now start mattering more and more. Ask yourself. What curiosity captures your mind?
We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model. We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results. github.com/openai/math

It is wild that light impacts cells so Materially. Its a discovery that means a lot irrespective of the Nobel or not. incredible work by all involved snd well deserved
BREAKING NEWS The 2026 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel “for their discoveries concerning light-gated ion channels and optogenetics.”

Every industry is going to be reinvented. Its the only time we have to leapfrog. Mining in the US, big 5 accounting in India.

InQTel is one of the most nuanced investor in deep tech. They understand both worlds and this is a great partnership

We are hitting this weird zone where the demand is insanely ramping up but the supply is insanely shrinking. The major copper ore types are Iron oxide copper gold (skarn) Porphyry copper Iocg exploration is limited because you keep hitting the iron without knowing if theres copper and copper porphyry is a spread out deposit type that is pretty deep Current exploration relies so heavily on drilling that finding and bringing it online will take 10-12 years
Copper Mine Supply continues to struggle: Output in Chile, the world's largest copper producer, drops to a 15-year low. ⚠️🇨🇱

The demand for energy is so vast that we are now in the phase where if you have built infrastructure and trust with the producers, you build!
LNG has gone full wildcat. Here's $100 million going into a LNG project with lots of signed MOUs, HOAs, and several cocktail napkins. The highly successful CEO's background is in the manufacturing of home furnishings. Baker Hughes is in for 5%. I love America. @ColumbiaUEnergy

Honestly, the comments on @dwarkesh_sp podcast about OpenAI spending vast money on compute 'like a drunken sailor' sounds hypocritical in hindsight?
Anthropic IPO prospectus leaked to Reuters Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, ‌and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the prospectus. The prospectus details how the company has grown sharply in the last year — while also posting wider losses. Revenue grew 12-fold in 2025 to nearly $4.6 billion, even as the company lost more than $8 billion on an operating basis, excluding writedowns of various liabilities mostly tied to previous fundraising, according to the documents, reported here for the first time. reuters.com/business/finance…

Mining within the borders of the United States is absolutely critical. The US has one of the most prolific endowments underground. The USGS reports $35T of Copper under the ground in the US. IF we are able to access it, the US will dominate the new world of data centers and on shore manufacturing. This is what happened with Shale, great to see strong support for unlocking the resources. This endowment will help mitigate the income disparity for the population

High ceilings in an office with enough sunlight makes the mind more creative, the heart more dedicated to the task, and the atoms cooler. @atomionics
Everything feels a little better with high ceilings

Vanadium plant in China. Took <2 years to build from empty land into these 2 giant kilns. Takes vanadium slag and steel slag, and vanadium-bearing materials as raw materials to produce 25kt V2O5 - which 10kt is battery grade. Speed to execution in China is simply impressive.

Thw trading teams at the big mining companies are the profit centers for producers. Every mining company wants to be a trading company too but this may lead to internal fiefdoms.
