🦭UPDATE: Neil the Seal has reportedly returned to the ocean after another memorable visit in Tasmania. 🌊
The beloved southern elephant seal may be a global social media star, but he’s still a wild animal. Please keep your distance & respect wildlife! 💙

do readers realise if AO3 does go down it'd affect them more than it'd affect writers
sure we'd lose a good place to share our work but there are other places, or we can just share between friends
even if DMCA strikes from fic authors were enough to jeopardise AO3 (they aren't)

Anyone who is posting in favour of fics being reuploaded without Author’s consent are absolutely normies that joined fandom in 2020 and never left, you genuinely cannot convince me otherwise
We are not tv networks. We don't need audience viewership numbers.
We crave positive interactions with other fans. If that's a like or comment or reblog or whatever. That's the motivation.
You are just having a very hard time with accepting you are in the audience.

I think people forget that, many times, fanfiction is just a way for writers to present a theory or interpretation of a character or event, so community engagement doesn’t literally mean people kissing the ground they walk on. They just want to find people to nerd out with.

It is a frowned upon thing to post someone's art without permission. You should know that being in fandoms. If you don't respect authors/artists enough to ask their permission to *post* their work then don't engage in fandom. Personal sharing is ok. Two different things.
Silent observers are not doing ANY lifting in fandoms.
The people who create and make fanworks are doing the heavy lifting.
You wouldn't have anything to observe if it wasn't for them. That's just facts.
Replying to @iminkain
Whether you like it or not, the silent observers are doing the heavy lifting even if not actively engaging the way you want them to 😂 ESPECIALLY on SNS platforms

Even if the “your fics aren’t protected by copyright!” WAS true, that just makes you more if a freak, “ah yes let me steal free labour because I know there’s nothing these people can do about it!” like, you sound like a cartoon villain.
