Nobody is asking for the constitution to be re-written β they just want it complied with, if they can agree what it requires. Both sides have played fast and loose with it but Nawrocki is really taking liberties with it.

If you start a little earlier you have to acknowledge that neither side has clean hands. The outgoing PO government legitimately appointed three judges to the constitutional tribunal but its further two appointments were to take effect after the election and were sharp /1

What I learned from Americans commenting on the situation in Poland on X:
Donald Tusk is carrying out a coup against President Nawrocki. He's being assisted by German police, which obviously means Germany is invading Poland again. But since Germany is in the EU, it must actually be an EU operation, probably personally ordered by Ursula von der Leyen.
Fortunately, the coup has failed because the Polish military remained loyal to the president. Tusk may control the government, but Nawrocki controls the army. That's apparently how Poland works now.
Meanwhile, Poland is preparing a military operation to capture Kaliningrad. So while the EU is trying to overthrow the Polish president, that same president is preparing to invade Russia.
To summarize, Poland is simultaneously being invaded by Germany, experiencing an EU-backed coup, fighting a civil war and preparing to attack Russia.
All this happened over the weekend and somehow nobody in Poland noticed. I'm learning so much about my country from Americans. Can't wait to find out who won the war.
I'm still waiting for the result of the 1975 referendum to be respected!
It was considerably more decisive than the 2016 one and was not manipulated by foreign interests.
