I spent 2 very formative years in Texas (ages 16-18) & I have a lifelong bond with the the place & the people I rolled with (my 1st love & many who I remain friends with). Texas is a beautiful, tolerant place. I'm happy they voted that way tonight.

youtu.be/wpyqR3nZ-2A?is=Wjl9… - a little love letter to Juan Atkins under his Model 500 productions and the soundtrack of my life for many years and still is. I was so nervous when sending this mix to Juan given it's reduced down to virtually a skeleton ghost version but his response gave me reassurance it was perfect the way it was. He said it was like living inside a dream so organic and alive, I'll never forget his words and encouragement. Beyond just being the creator of a sound, he was humble with one of the kindest hearts and soul, just an exceptional human who will be sorely missed. Rest in Power... Heaven got lucky this time... This void will be felt everywhere

Michael Jordan texted her. Barry Bonds was amazed watching her. Gabby Williams hasn’t let it sink in yet, but her heroic third quarter in Game 7 cemented her as a sports legend in the Bay Area: espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/503…
Hearing @djmarkfarina DJ in 95 quite literally changed my life. I can't wait to dig into this one.
Next in, a US legend with a fantastic 90 minutes. 31 years ago:
This is @djmarkfarina @ Fever, The Paradox, Baltimore MD 16.02.95
90 minutes of fantastic house by a phenomenal artist. Proper groover. No tracklist, sadly.
Reminder that all mixes uploaded here today go on my Kofi for download tonight.

Starlight remix compilation/mix is a perfect microcosm of just one slice of Juan's vast influence and a beautiful example of the mutability of techno itself, flowing seamlessly from the original Model 500 track through a series of reworks, reshapes, and dubs
one of the most important and biggest inspirations, a teacher that taught a whole movement of many generations

Detroit, 1983. On WJLB, the Electrifying Mojo would play Cybotron's "Cosmic Cars" every night (multiple times on some broadcasts), thus introducing me and thousands (millions?) of listeners to techno pioneer Juan Atkins. 1/2 youtube.com/watch?v=KNz01ty-…

RIP Juan Atkins, such a massive musical titan. I appreciated interviewing him a couple years back and hearing about his specific influences.

Ballhalla has become famous for having the most raucous environment in the league, and so far, it has lived up to that reputation: spr.ly/6012BHg0Ay

The Valks have a chance to win the title before bottomless mimosas end. Thursday could be epic.
Nate Young on @NNATapes
Reminded me of seeing Nate solo, Group Rhoda & Maggi Payne at the space that was once The Red Vic on Haight Street 2012/13 ish?. That was a RIPPER of a gig.
Despite being on an extended self-imposed time-out for purchasing vinyl, I do wish I'd picked up a copy of the new dummy record at the show a couple weeks ago
My bartender friends are picking up lucrative shifts on this playoff run & you see Valkyries gear all over San Francisco. Playing the game at 9:30 am on a Thursday is a real bummer for a city that's gone all-in on a WNBA team.
For Bay Area folks: Valkyries-Dream Game 6, after which a champion could potentially be crowned, gets a 9:30 a.m.-on-a-workday tipoff.
