ALT 27% of parents/gaurdians say their children are bullied in school because they are a Traveller. Avoidance of early school leaving is critically linked to schools intercultural understanding,recognition and respect within the curriculum of Traveller identity,but is not being factored into plans as a foundtional action.

ALT Whats needed? Fund,implement,monitor the National Traveller and Roma Education Strategy 2024-2030. Establish an action plan for Traveller culture and history to be taught in the curriculum with oversight by the Department.

ALT 61% Traveller Unemployment. The legacy of poor educational impacts on Travellers progression and pathways into employment, decades of government inaction have worsened unemployment and with too little focus on opportunities to develop self employment supports and infrastructure.

ALT Whats needed? Develop,cund and robustly monitor a National Traveller Emoloyment and Enterprise Strategy with a multi level approach,integrated with the education, training , enterprise and employment sector.
