I saw someone say she's appropriating white culture by being punk and it's very important to me that everyone knows the song played in this trailer is LITERALLY about a black woman being called a poseur by fellow punks because of her skin color 50 YEARS AGO

Dear dumbfucks,
You can like the Cheesecake Factory and not want the White House to look like the Cheesecake Factory.

Y’all are not hating this man hard enough if you are still giving him nights in your theaters and pages on your websites.

if I recall correctly, this film was made in part to counter tim burtons racist statement of black people not fitting his "aesthetic" which is such a baller move honestly. this movie looks beautiful and kat herself oozes charm
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tim Burton did not say Black people don't fit his aesthetic. In 2016 he said diversity should fit the story, citing Brady Bunch tokenism. Wendell & Wild development started 2015; Peele wanted a Black lead for kids like him to see themselves.

kind of surprised by the number of people who didn’t know that a huge portion of hollywood either sided with chris brown or coddled him. rihanna was being attacked from every side. people love to say that moment ruined his career, but most of his success came after that.

I need people to revisit 𝘈𝘯 𝘜𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 because Jennifer Lopez was giving a PERFORMANCE. The emotional nuances were everything. 🔥

Shame on the journalist who let him get away with this lie. There are literal articles on The Hollywood Reporter about it 😂 Sacha Baron Cohen met with TikTok to convince them to censor support for Palestine ffs.
Sacha Baron Cohen on suspicion that the calls for a boycott of his new film, 'Ali G: Who Iz I?,' are tied to his past support of Israel:
"Well, I haven’t said anything about Israel. I think people are being portrayed as things that they are not on social media and it’s problematic. We are in a world where people can’t distinguish between facts and lies, and that’s something that I’ve spent a lot of the last few years trying to fix. For example, I co-founded a group called Stop Hate for Profit with the NAACP and Color of Change and the ADL and certain other civil rights groups to stop the misinformation and incitement of racism on social media. So, I’m not surprised that prominent Jews are being targeted. I knew that this was going to happen. The level of organization is surprising, but this is a trend of Jews being portrayed in certain ways and trying to be silenced." bit.ly/4BpPgkz

I support black actors being hired and their checks clearing so I’m going to hold my tongue for a little bit…….
Because
"Is God Is" deserves to be in the award conversation this year and I really hope it isn't left out.
Writer and director Aleshea Harris discusses her film “Is God Is” and how it reflects her experiences as a Black woman. Harris was honored as one of Variety’s 10 Screenwriters to Watch at the Santa Fe International Film Festival @SFIntlFilmFest.

A Savannah police officer gave her Flock login to her husband.
Her husband is an ICE agent.
He ran 983 license plate searches.
Across six states.
788 were in South Carolina.
Mostly looking for cars registered to Hispanic owners.
An investigator asked her: "Did you run these searches?"
She said no.
Then admitted it was her husband.
Her husband said: "Every name that I ever ran was an ICE target."
Translation: I was using the police department's surveillance system to hunt people.
She got fired. Along with five other Savannah PD employees.
All for Flock misuse.
ICE is investigating its own agent.
Which means nothing will happen to him.
Georgia law apparently lets Savannah police share plate data with ICE.
But Savannah never agreed to that.
So she just decided it was fine.
Gave him the password.
He turned it into a deportation tool.
Now there's a paper trail showing Flock was used to target Hispanic drivers across state lines.
Using a police officer's credentials.
With her knowledge.
The surveillance network designed to catch criminals became a hunting tool for immigration enforcement.
One password away from working.
