My grandpa. He was the only one of five siblings to survive. He hid in a closet with them before forcibly moved to the Krakow ghetto. While doing forced labor in a Nazi airplane factory, he helped rig planes to fall apart in the air. He was liberated before they found out.

Those who claimed the Flydubai incident was a false-flag operation should be ashamed. Everyone in the UAE is proud of Captain Smit, the Indian pilot, for saving lives.
Saving lives is the greatest act of all.
Thank you, Captain Smit, your scars heal our wounds.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

I bought a hat with some Hebrew text on it.
In thirty minutes of wearing it in public, I've had two people come up and challenge me about the hat, asking what language it was and then glaring at me when I said Hebrew.
I'm not Jewish.
I don't like living in a world with ethnic hatred. This is bullshit, and it has to be pushed back against. You can have whatever feelings you want about a war on the other side of the world, but hating someone here because of what language you think they speak is disgusting.

Eight years ago today, 11 Jews were murdered at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh for doing nothing more than practicing their faith. They had come for Shabbat morning services, and a gunman who wanted Jews dead walked in and opened fire. To this day, it remains the deadliest antisemitic attack in American history.
Antisemitism is one of the oldest forms of hate in the world, and when it turns violent, families and survivors are left with a lifetime of unimaginable grief.
Even so, the families shattered that day turned their pain into purpose. As we speak, the synagogue is being rebuilt as a memorial and museum dedicated to fighting the very same hate that took their loved ones.
May the memories of Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger be a blessing.

Eight years ago today, we suffered the deadliest act of antisemitism in American history when a killer entered Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh while people prayed and murdered 11 of our neighbors.
It’s been 2,922 days since the attack, but the pain still lingers in our Commonwealth. Today we offer prayers of comfort to those touched by this violence.
Let today be a moment for action, remembrance, and resolve to combat antisemitism in all forms.
May the memories of Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger forever be a blessing.

On October 27, 2018, 11 Pittsburghers were senselessly killed in an antisemitic attack while worshipping at the Tree of Life building in Squirrel Hill.
We continue to stand with the families, survivors and the Jewish community and are committed to eradicating hate in every form.
