In 2005 in FUT Minna, same Ebira extremists started an all out war against Christians right there on Bosso campus. When they saw that Christians regrouped and mounted a formidable counterattack, they had to disperse.
No be today.

Didn’t start in 2014/15. As far back as the 80s some Ebira students dropped out of their universities and moved to a particular Middle East country to “learn the deen”. There’s an extremism issue in Kogi central.

The Diplomat is honestly the best thing Netflix has ever done. Impeccable writing, and even better acting.

How do I explain to my children that I practise a religion where insulting our Prophet can be treated as a crime punishable by death?
How do I teach them that human life matters when some people believe a person deserves to die for words?
What do I tell them when the faith I teach them to love seems to demand a life in exchange for an insult? 😔

I think Muslims need to understand something uncomfortable.
Non-Muslims do not owe Muhammad their respect. They do not believe he was a prophet, and some do not even consider him a good man. You can disagree with them, but you cannot demand that they see him the way you do.
Your reverence for someone does not create an obligation for the rest of the world to revere him.
So, are we going to kill everyone who insults Muhammad, or are we going to learn to practise our religion in a world where not everyone shares our beliefs?
Because the world is not going to become Muslim just to protect our feelings.
We have two choices: learn to live with our differences or spend our lives fighting a world we cannot control.
You cannot force people to love your prophet by making them afraid to criticise him. You can only teach them to fear those who claim to love him.
The date October 20 will always leave a churn in my heart. The day before was the last time I had true hope, and I’ve been fighting so hard to hold on to hope for humanity ever since. Perhaps it’s because the only things I’ve seen and experienced since then are denial, degradation, and division. It all seems so pointless, like a mockery of a fight that was once worthy. I think I’m failing at this hope of a thing, but I also know I wasn’t born to be a misanthrope so I will keep trying.
May all the dead, the wounded, the scarred, and the exiled be remembered for their bravery. You did nothing wrong. We betrayed you. Nigeria betrayed you. You have every right to never forgive us.
But you did nothing wrong. It was we who failed you. And we continue to fail you.
Shame on us.

Fun fact: I had a suit planned for this shoot, but my designer had an emergency and couldn’t get it ready in time.
Things took a different turn, and it got me thinking about how we’ve come to associate education with western clothing.
There’s something beautiful about celebrating an academic milestone in a way that also reflects who we are and where we come from.

Just because a couple billion people hold seventh-century laws sacred does not mean the world should let them kill people for it, nor should freedom of speech be surrendered to placate them or out of fear of their violence.

There’s absolutely nothing they could have done that deserves capital punishment, their murder was inhumane and barbaric!!!
