Yeah — my cover photo is the view of quayside from the st James park away end
Come back when you’ve found a quicker and more reliable route 👍
Go and ask some station staff if you need a hand

Leeds to York line closed all week for engineering
Otherwise would have done that

Severe delays on the Avanti line north of Liverpool/Warrington
Couldn’t have reliably made that journey, be entering into the unknown
Verify that yourself with realtimetrains.co.uk
Sat at home looking at google maps completely oblivious to what was going on yesterday 👍
I looked that up earlier following another suggestion but at the time I was travelling it wouldn’t have made any difference, with more potential for disruption
Journey would have been as follows if I’d have done that:
2:56 Chester to Stockport (4:17)
4:24 (delayed to 5:01) Stockport to Sheffield (5:42)
6:22 (delayed to 6:42) Sheffield to Newcastle (8:45)

Yes — but the trains you’re looking at from Liverpool to Newcastle run through Carlisle, which was closed yesterday. Or I would have done that.
Again, all this talk but nobody’s found a quicker and more reliable route 🤷🏻♂️
Zero time pressure, all data available, luxury of hindsight… but still no quicker and more reliable route I could have taken

You’ve tried to community note it but there’s nothing to community note
You misunderstood the concept of “today”
If it’s not the quickest and most reliable route from yesterday then you’re still very welcome to prove me wrong
But despite there being zero time pressure now and everyone has the luxury of hindsight and all the data in the world at their fingertips… nobody’s found a quicker and more reliable route
Regardless, thanks for your interest in the state of northern rail infrastructure
All this chat and nobody’s found a quicker and more reliable route yet
Everyone now with the luxury of hindsight and all the data in the world to help them under zero time pressure
Funny that

Rail infrastructure should be more weather resilient
Some wind and some repairs shouldn’t bottleneck the entire north of England

Mainly because Leeds to York line is closed all week
And Carlisle to Newcastle line was closed yesterday with trees on the tracks

Not this week, Leeds to York line closed

Prove it and find a quicker and simpler route from yesterday afternoon then
