If you practice church discipline in glee that the church disciplines a person out of the fold, your heart is sick, if not unregenerate. Rather, we rejoice in honoring Christ even as our hearts break for the sinful choices of a person.

Melchizedek is why the tithing debate makes me suspicious. Abraham gave before Moses, before the Law, before the Temple. Yet Christians debate giving like tax attorneys hunting for a loophole. Maybe the issue was never “Do I have to?” Maybe it’s “Why am I so desperate not to?”
As a Christian you are not commanded to give 10% of your income to your local church.

The voter's conscience is free to do what the law is not free to do. I agree with the point that Andrew is making here.
I'm a Baptist for whom religious liberty matters greatly. But does supporting religious liberty mean voters cannot take a candidate's religious worldview into account when deciding whether to vote for them? No. With Islam's growing influence, I have a new column at @realDailyWire that helps clarify how religion factors into whether a candidate is fit to serve. dailywire.com/news/the-polit…

Whatever you do today, do it for the glory of the Lord Jesus. Decrease that He may increase. Make much of Him.

It is false to assert that biblical counseling only confronts sin. The Bible repeatedly instructs us to comfort one another during times of hardship and loss (2 Corinthians 13:11). Jesus is the model counselor, and his personal ministry of the Word was one of both confrontation and comfort. We must follow our Lord and Savior’s example in ministering to broken and troubled people.

A good word here from @jake_stone89. Remember: Friends don't let friends do Ctrl+F historical theology.
🚨PSA: Isaac Backus was NOT a magisterial Baptist.

As you drive to your church campus today, you’ll probably pass another one. Take a moment to pray that God would do amazing things in that congregation. Remember, a church that faithfully preaches the gospel and makes disciples isn’t your competition. They’re your family.

Some of the most important ministry happening today is being done by pastors whose names most people will never know. I want the @BaptistNetwork to serve those pastors—not simply the people with the largest platforms.

Regarding some of the recent posting about pastors and their levels of fitness, a few comments. First, if you think that these posts are actually about fitness, you are missing the actual game. This conversation is motivated by something else entirely. Second, to the extent that young men are being discipled into this mentality, they are being shepherded into spiritual retardation. Proverbs teaches that the glory of young men is their strength and of old men, their grey hair (Prov. 20:29). Over the course of life, you move from strength to wisdom. And like the wine in Jesus’ wineskin parable, no one having tasted the older prefers the younger. By making fitness into a pastor’s goal, you swap out the end and replace it with the beginning. That is what I mean by spiritual retardation. You are putting infancy in the place of maturity. And that is no knock on pursuing fitness. By all means, young men pursue strength. That is where you start. But the end is wisdom. And I prefer a mature pastor over an infant pastor. Lastly, I’ve seen the argument that this is about stewardship, about healthy practices that will give you a long life. That is a great end to seek. But scripture gives us clear teaching on how to pursue that end. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you,” (Ex. 20:12). If you want to live long in the land, obey the fifth commandment. If you pursue fitness while disrespecting your elders, best of luck on your wellness journey, but don’t expect God to bless it.

“Get the log out of your own eye” is often used to point out specks in the eyes of others. This weaponization of Scripture is precisely the opposite of what the text calls us to do.

You may never know the pastor who is encouraged because you gave. You may never meet the church that was strengthened because you partnered. But faithful generosity often produces fruit far beyond what we can see.

Seeking to have a healthy church is costly. But the cost of compromising God’s truth is eternally more significant than any cost required for the sake of the church. Christ is worthy of a healthy church.
