From the replies, expect a *lot* of cutting down on infra costs to happen at startups that are not profitable.
There are other cost optimization directions, but CTOs are likely to look much, much closer at the cost/return for infra-related vendors, and how they can cut down.

Azure Availability Concepts: Pt 5/6
Regions exist are the highest level, each region containing multiple availability zones.
Regions are paired for availability and update reasons eg. In a disaster scenario, Azure will prioritize restoring at least one region in every pairing.
