Azure Availability Concepts: Pt. 1/6 After 4 years of working with Azure, these are some availability concepts that I’ve learnt along the way. There are four main concepts to understand: servers, fault domains, availability zones and regions.

From the replies, expect a *lot* of cutting down on infra costs to happen at startups that are not profitable. There are other cost optimization directions, but CTOs are likely to look much, much closer at the cost/return for infra-related vendors, and how they can cut down.
Startups looking to conserve runway are asking staff to to cut back on unnecessary costs. What spending have you seen tech startups cut back on, and what types of vendors might be at risk of seeing less usage?

@MTNza My contract ended but now I'm being charged even more than I originally agreed to and I can't cancel. I've already sent two emails to try and get assistance on this. I had an account on mycontract.mtn.co.za but that is now deleted apparently. – at Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This reminds me of fitness functions described in Software Architecture: The Hard Parts.
Great way to think about the tradeoffs that are made when you move between companies on different tiers. – at Nevşehir Merkez, Nevşehir
How should we think about compensation? Most people _only_ look at the number: and this is easy to compare. One thing I'm thinking about is outlining what is reasonable to expect: *especially* if you take lower compensation at companies that can't pay more. An attempt:

That's very interesting, I'd mainly use it for nodejs (koa) API containers. Which I don't think use lazy loading? I'll give this a shot as I was searching for an easy way to slim (and secure) our containers. – at Nevşehir Merkez, Nevşehir

Would you need to exercise all your applications functionality for this to work correctly? Say for example some code paths are rarely executed, would the slimmed image end up too slim? – at Nevşehir Merkez, Nevşehir

Really great article on some powerful and easy habits to build for a better life. I really resonate with the habit of reading, especially the tip on reading multiple books at once. Great article on thinking about your career. – at Amsterdam, The Netherlands
A typical career spans decades; most people take ~10 years figuring out what to do & getting better at it. To decide what to do, its helpful to understand our: • Values: What matters most to us • Superpowers: What we do better than 95% of people eugeneyan.com/writing/values…

Also had my employer quoting these types of salary reports and realized they are not truly representative of the full range of the market when I saw techpays.eu

Well, Talent .io reached out asking if I can help promote their consistently-below-the-market salary report. I obviously can’t. Trust salary numbers at your own risk. I’ve said it before and will say it again: these salary reports only survey the bottom tier of the market.
My first proper video in close to 9 months is coming tomorrow to YouTube on software engineering salaries in the Netherlands, with close to 500 data points. I couldn't resist interpreting (aka roasting) Talent .io's salary report. Subscribe to my channel here to not miss it:
