I was in Chipotle today and the "music" they were playing was perfectly lame. Nothing but non-musician created layering of sound libraries, likely torrented, and nothing longer than 2 minutes. It was genuinely depressing.
The stark reality of todays data center RAM requirements. I bought 64GB of DDR5 memory in early 2025 for $210. Today the same RAM is priced at $1,277. That's a 508% increase. Projections only have the prices rise over the next year or two.

when everyone can make music,
making music stops being the scarce resource.
taste becomes scarce.
identity becomes scarce.
attention becomes scarce.
people who actually have something to say become scarce.
that’s where i think the interesting shit starts.

The part I hate most about AI is that I now approach art with suspicion instead of excitement and wonder

In 1980 I saw Rush in February and then Van Halen in April. The Rush show changed my life and I ended up front row left of center for VH.., after stage rushing.
C'mon man ~ give a listen to an old 90s rock song, home production, 3 piece Detroit band that headlined there in the early 90s. It's a bit brittle, but it's there. Needs audio work. The Mind - The Systems Ready

Just saw Disclosure Day, the new Spielberg film. It's certainly rough and felt like he has lost some of his magic abilities. I found the final act to be quite moving and made it a worthwhile watch, 6.5 out of 10. Still ~ $17 for the ticket and $21 for a medium popcorn and medium Pepsi, both were NOT fresh, tarnished the experience.
