My most recent paper on robust stellar modeling using isochrones and Bayesian model averaging has been accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics 😄

ignore the nerds, generate maximum shareholder value
Whaaaat, this is sooo off. The amount of executions I saw *accidentally* when I was a teenager is insane and permanently desensitized me. Not to forget all the bizarre porn one got casually sent. The internet now is infinitely safer than what it was 15+ yrs ago.
The attack on the internet archive and the wayback machine is truly despicable. Is this a modern burning of the Library of Alexandria?

Hi.
Cybersecurity expert here. I'm tweeting this from a public Wi-Fi network without a VPN. I never use a VPN when using public Wi-Fi.
VPN company security claims are (mostly) scams. They sponsor a lot of podcasts to promote their claims.

Shit like this makes people want to leave academia. Wha the fuck id a "postdoctoral student"
Postdoctoral students and academic researchers at the University of California said they will return to work on Monday after ratifying a new contract. But workers who help teach undergraduates and assign grades remain on strike. nyti.ms/3uHBjxg

Sometimes I feel like I should do some sort of astronomy outreach (it looks fun, at the very least), but on the other hand, it does seem like there's enough out there :s
The HST/JWST proprietary time issue sounds so elitist to me. Sure, let's give away data to someone who has a paper factory pipeline ready to go instead of giving the opportunity to the teams that won the time for said data the first place
