India's politicians will take this country into ecocide. Fadnavis, Shinde and Ganesh Naik, despite knowing 70% of Maharashtra faces a drought, decide to cut one more forest. This one in the hugely biodiverse water catchment of the western ghats.

24-year old activist Divya Ahirwar, one of the faces of the protests against the Ken-Betwa river linking project in Madhya Pradesh, is still in jail after she was arrested on September 28, 2026. Delhi or MP, the BJP clamps down on any democratic resistance. #DivyaAhirwar
Meet 24-year-old Divya Ahirwar, at the forefront of the Ken–Betwa movement in Madhya Pradesh. In the Dhodhan region of Chhatarpur district, dozens of villages are set to be affected by a dam being built under the Ken–Betwa River Linking Project. For years, residents have been protesting, demanding fair compensation and justice for those facing displacement. Among the movement's most active voices is Divya Ahirwar. Divya says the forests are the primary source of livelihood for many Adivasi families in the region. She has witnessed women in her village stand up for their rights and resist displacement, often taking a leading role in the struggle to protect their homes and communities. According to her, these women are not only confronting the uncertainty of displacement but also dealing with challenges such as domestic violence. Despite these hardships, they continue to support their families through resources gathered from the forest. Divya's connection to this struggle is deeply personal. After losing her father in childhood, she faced difficult circumstances herself. She believes these experiences helped her understand the challenges faced by Adivasi women and inspired her to stand alongside them, amplifying their voices in the fight for their rights.

Otul Jerang is a young schoolteacher. Polite, soft-spoken, he speaks straight from his heart about his people and the Siang River. I first heard him speak during a rally in Pasighat against the Upper Siang Multipurpose Project—a project that will affect his own village. He is currently in police custody after the GenZ protest took a violent turn in Pasighat. Please do listen to him explain why he chose to surrender to the police.

What does it cost a nun to speak out against a powerful bishop? For Sr Ranit, the fight meant a gruelling trial, isolation, and losing financial support. But she has found a way forward through Stand By Me. Watch my first attempt at a documentary youtube.com/watch?v=LJ78EbmD…

Will any other woman from any community be arrested in her night dress for any kind of crime? Karthiga is humiliated by TVK govt for merely doing politics. @Keerthana4VNR Do you agree with such treatment of any woman, let alone dalit, by the police, madam minister? Is this the change you promised for women in the state?

The parents of Sahil Wakode, the IIT Bombay student who died by suicide on 18 September, arrived at the institute to commemorate a month since his death. They entered the campus in the afternoon and went to Justice Corner, the site where students have been protesting for the past month. However, there were no students at the site—eight of them had been picked up by the police at 12.30 pm and taken to the Powai Police Station. Sahil's parents asked to meet the protesting students. The Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad was also present, as were the parents of Aniket Ambhore, an IITB student who died by suicide in 2014. Soon after Gaikwad left, around 3 pm, the police detained 22 students as well as the Wakodes. They were all released after 6 pm. When they returned, students found that the administration had dismantled their protest site. They have decided to continue their protest in front of the director's residence. In the last one month, at least 19 people from Naga and Kuki communities were killed--including nine killed in one day. However, Manipur didn't issue a single press note on these killings. Today, the police not only issued a statement, but the CM also held a security meet.

.@priyankac19 Priyanka, even reservations for SC/ST and OBCs are constitutional yet you are on record calling for them to be scrapped and replaced. Shouldn’t you be jailed for expressing unconstitutional views despite swearing to abide by it as an MP ? Hypocrisy much ?

"We are not afraid of ruins. We who ploughed the prairies and built the cities can build again, only better next time. We carry a new world, here in our hearts. That world is growing this minute." So ya, not your place to comment about how a protest should be or not. STFU please
