Birmingham and Frankfurt will be linked by a digital portal, enabling Brummies to interact with German citizens, which opens in the city centre this week.
The Sister Cities Dialogue linking Frankfurt with three of its sister cities has landed in Hippodrome Square, and will go live on Friday (23 October), hosting various interactive sessions until 4 November.

Love this piece with Benjamin walking and talking about his early home life in Brum
The late Benjamin Zephaniah was born on Hampton Road, Aston. Phantom Road became home. Caribbean, Irish, Greek neighbours; chip shop Fridays. He struggled to read but loved words. That street made him a poet. #Aston #Birmingham #Poetry @BBC
As part of #IDOB at @BhamCityCouncil Chambers @switch_radio hosted a live edition of the Album Club ft On Record A motion to make @FriendlyFireBan It's A Brum Ting the official Brum anthem was unanimously carried so @joanneroney please make this happen 😂 tinyurl.com/523yfjun

The UK's oldest cinema sits rotting after Glenbrook Property shut it down 2 1/2 years ago. Its literally next door to the birthplace of Sabbath & Home of Metal, The Crown (closed for a decade by Toyoko Inns).
Its a farce Birmingham couldn't host this in Brum on Station St

Getting an @ace_national funding application rejection is always disappointing, getting it at 4.30pm on a Friday seems particularly harsh and unnecessary. A small point but rejection decisions should be sent Tues-Thurs to allow applicants time to process during the working week.

Reminder in this wonderful programme that @TheCBSO was UK's 1st publicly funded orchestra: another piece of music history #madeinBirmingham. Shameful, philistine decision by @BhamCityCouncil to cut CBSO funding from April 2025 should be reversed as soon as possible by new council

Quelle surprise. Be interested to see the detailed plan put forward by Digbeth Loc and the informed decision as why it was the chosen.
Perhaps no one else was asked or submitted a proposal?
📣 Digbeth Loc. Studios is the preferred development partner to deliver a major new creative and mixed-use neighbourhood at Fazeley Street in the heart of Digbeth, Birmingham.
✅ It's a a significant step forward in the continued regeneration of Digbeth, helping to strengthen Birmingham’s growing reputation as a national hub for film, television and creative production.
❗The leader of the council said, this is great news and an important milestone in the continued regeneration of Digbeth, one of the most vibrant areas of the city, complementing the work we are already doing across Digbeth to improve the public realm and support its distinctive cultural identity. Digbeth Loc Studios is already playing a huge role in the city’s development as a major filming destination and creative hub.

Really happy to write this piece for @brumdispatch to offer a different view point about @BM_AG & its ongoing critical underfunding & the continual fight for scraps of money for one of the UK's great art collections Hint, it's not the staff or the displays that are to blame!

The article was divisive - we got a lot of (private) messages agreeing. But lots of people jumped to the defence of the gallery. We want to keep the debate going. Today, Jez Collins makes his case for pink woolly mammoths in museums.
