I’ve started a new Twitter account for myself and future EIA Administrators. Give me a follow at @EIA_One to learn more about ongoing work at @EIAgov!
The @EIAgov Administrator (currently me😀) now has a twitter account! Now that I’ve settled into my role, I plan to use twitter to communicate our work to a broader audience.

This paper led by @candiselhenry documents a long overdue modeling exercise: initialize different energy models with identical input data and see what happens.
New Paper! Congratulations @candiselhenry for leading an insightful electricity system model inter-comparison effort culminating in: authors.elsevier.com/c/1dkpO… @jfdecarolis, @HadiEnergy, @KenCaldeira, @farnham_h2o, @rebeccaampeer, Oleg Lugovoy, Michael Waite, Vijay Modie

As modelers, we tend to focus on adding more complexity to better represent the real world. This analysis is a reminder that we also need to pay attention to the core model equations as well.

In the not too distant future, I'd love to see a set of archived datasets for capacity expansion models, similar to the IEEE RTS dataset for reliability analysis, which can be used for benchmarking and calibration exercises.

Super excited to see these @EIAgov energy modeling provisions in the infrastructure bill. I especially like (14): "striving to migrate toward a single, consistent, and open-source modeling platform, and increasing open access to model systems, data, and outcomes..."
