Pretty poor response Eoin. I had the privilege of representing people in UB for almost 30 years, 17 of them as an MLA
Despite no longer holding an elected position I & my colleagues turned up to give support & voice to the people when they needed it the most @SDLPlive

True, deep reconciliation has to come from honest encounter and exchange with questions of history, power and injustice.
Absenting oneselves at the most challenging moments will not work.
The next generation should not have to relive the traumas of the past at Drumcree.

The last week has proven this region can do extraordinary things.
Dysfunction and division are not inevitable but a choice.
If either SF or the DUP made a self-interested choice to collapse Government again it would only be an acknowledgement of their own failure.
"This is cynical, but could be electorally effective. When Sinn Féin last collapsed Stormont, it was handsomely rewarded by nationalist voters. But there is a risk that this is simply too transparent..." tinyurl.com/bd6rjrf5

Let's be clear.
The DUP is a scandal-hit wreck but Sinn Féin is trying to deflect from their total failure to deliver Casement, the A5 or anything of substance with the historic mandate they were given.
It won't work.
Northern Ireland's devolved government's institutions are in "a precarious place" as the "wheels are coming off Stormont", according to Sinn Féin.

This headline might make you think this is a normal accounting process.
It isn't- it's the Executive imposing a brutal 5 per cent cut on itself by refusing to agree a Budget.
Stormont officials will have legal powers to spend up to 95% of last year's funding from Saturday, as a deadline passes without an Executive budget.

A 13-point turnaround between the SDLP and Alliance in just three years.
In 2023, Alliance led the SDLP by 10 points in this poll.
A clear vision for a shared New Ireland, effective Opposition politics and Claire Hanna’s leadership have helped build real momentum.

Three years ago the SDLP was on 6% and written off.
Constructive Opposition, a hugely popular leader and most importantly a hopeful vision for our future has transformed that.
We can build something new on this island.
