🚨Two employees at a Southern California surgery center have been federally indicted for assaulting and impeding ICE officers during an immigration enforcement operation. Jose de Jesus Ortega, 38, of Highland, and Danielle Nadine Davila, 33, of Corona, face felony charges of assaulting, resisting, and impeding a federal officer, along with conspiracy. The incident took place at the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center in Ontario, California. ICE agents were conducting enforcement when they followed a truck into the facility parking lot. A Honduran national who was not a patient or employee of the center fled on foot into the building to avoid arrest. According to court documents and DHS statements, Ortega and Davila, both wearing medical scrubs, intervened. They allegedly pulled the suspect away from an agent, grabbed an officer’s arm and vest, positioned themselves between the agent and the suspect while yelling at officers to leave, locked doors, and blocked law enforcement vehicles. Ortega was taken into custody. Davila was initially sought as a fugitive. The Honduran national was ultimately arrested by ICE. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California is prosecuting the case.
