Alright! EU fines Apple €500 million for DMA non-compliance! 🎉 theverge.com/news/627522/app… And this is only for Apple's App Store “anti-steering” practices. Looks like more fines might be on the horizon. Looks like my trips to Brussels are finally starting to come to fruition!

9/ but I remain disappointed in Apple in that they have chosen to not fight the order and to leave users exposed. This isn’t ‘blaming’ them, it’s just disappointing in not seeing them put up a fight & seeing if UK gov would take them to court for refusing to comply with an order

For a multi-trillion dollar company that champions privacy at every given PR opportunity, Apple's swift acceptance + lack of resistance (in contrast to their fierce battles against anti-competitive regulations) shows that for 🍎 their profits are more important than your privacy.

A report delivered by a High-Level Group “#GoingDark” 🌑 promotes an ideology of maximum police access to data for surveillance purposes. Read our open letter reacting to these flawed EU policy recommendations and our offer for a brighter approach. ☀️ edri.org/our-work/shedding-l…
