A motion to have steering with your knees replace apple pie as the quintessential American cultural signifier
This feels like a misreading to me — we value sampling, remixing etc because they include an interpretive act. There is a creative role in the transformation, which makes the transformation meaningful. LLMs are completely uncomprehending, indifferent.

All artists remix and transform other people's work. But the test here is that their work can itself be interpreted and transformed by others. The fact that LLMs are corrupted by LLM output kind of gives the lie to the idea that they are doing the same thing.

I’ve been trying to buy an out of print F1 book for like 15 years and it’s usually $794.65, shipping from Guernsey or something. Well I just got it for $40 from some random drop shipper and it’s brand new. There are still some good weird internet things.
Commuting to the city is officially BACK: the guy in front of me just read his name, phone, credit card number w/ exp date and cvc out loud on the train.
