is there anyone out here who does zettelkasten etc in multiple languages? how do you determine atomicity? is an idea's translation equivalent to itself? when do you/what prompts you to connect an idea to one in a different language?

Genocide is wrong because it is wrong, not because it is expensive for Americans. The longer we allow these disgusting talking points which center US comfort rather than the lives of those enduring atrocities, the longer we will find support for these atrocities
New Abdul El Sayed ad is brilliant The question for Americans is this: How long do you want to bleed lives and treasure because your corrupt politicians have sold their souls to the lobby of a foreign country rests on racist thugs so–called Israel?

One of Lula’s most important and least well-known achievements is US capacity to sanction it into compliance is limited, because unlike Europe, Brazilians don’t need Visa or Mastercard to make payments.

hahaha wow, never thought i'd see an ad like this in my life
“Honey we can’t buy eggs, we have to set aside $7 to bomb the kids in Gaza. Remember?” Abdul El-Sayed is absolutely crushing it. This is the most brilliant ad of all time 👏🏼

feel like an underexamined reason people are addicted to LLMs is less that they can't think but that they're overwhelmed by choice and just want a "definitive" option handed to them with the aura of "authority/analysis" (from the training data or whatever) behind it

When bird flu spread through a Utah mink farm, the government should’ve ordered it to cull its mink, experts say. But the state never seriously considered it. A fur trade representative warned that doing so would kill the industry. propublica.org/article/bird-…

Bought two mislabelled vintage photo albums which turn out to be old Japanese photographs. One is of a high school during WWII, the other, of some sort of Buddhist pilgrimage in the 1960s. Does anyone know someone who collects this sort of thing?

Are you effin kidding me. This is about as big an attack vector as it gets against 2FA.
We got Microsoft Authenticator to hand over account tokens to a fake Teams app. The app needed zero Android permissions. It just claimed to be Teams, and Authenticator never checked who was actually asking. The result: full delegated access to mailbox, files, and calendar through Microsoft Graph. The Internet has done a lot of good and all but social media has really just allowed people to reshape the historiography of moments that are not just within living memory but within the last 20 years of it as being utterly alien to what they actually were.
Gays literally did this with Obama though. Gay marriage didn't happen because we refused to vote for Democrats until they gave it to us, it happened because we were loyal to them and convinced them that gay marriage was a good thing for them to support.

The plan? Force feed ducks to stop federal agents from terrorizing our streets
I will vote no because I like foie but mainly because I agree with this sentiment. There’s national guards occupying our streets, ICE terrorizing neighbors, DC is facing a fiscal crisis. We have to use our city’s resources better than implementing this. Vote NO on Initiative 86.

I am voting against the foie gras ban because I am offended that anyone is spending time, money and energy on this. I don’t eat that nastiness, I hate the process, but this is not a good use of resources

part of the reading crisis may be that students do not know how to read. here is one way: you start at the first word and read it, then you move to the next word and read it, and so on

"that is way too simplified!" the student protests. "you are being condescending." the usual question: did you do it?

BREAKING: Russia declares it is ready to supply unlimited diesel to the United States under Trump's deal with Putin. "As much as our partners want, frankly, from the volume that we will supply for export. We can supply everything," Deputy Prime Minister Novak says. The first 3 tankers are already crossing the Atlantic. Each carries 300,000 barrels of ultra-low-sulfur diesel, loaded at Primorsk on October 22 and due in New York around November 7. That is 900,000 barrels, just 5 hours of American diesel use.
