What a massive own goal by Google and Apple to bend the knee to Trump on Lake Ontario. The world is watching and the lesson is: get off US tech. This episode of Gloves Off is good on the dangers to personal and national security - and possible solutions.

We should make it easy for companies to transfer to an employee ownership as a way to help their founders retire.

"'We’ll help make you owners' is a hell of a rallying cry.
With Canada’s sovereignty at stake, we must invest in every approach to keeping Canadian businesses in Canadian hands...Employee ownership was a great idea in 2024. It has become an essential idea for Canada in 2025."
👍
Employee Ownership can be an important tool in the fight for Canadian sovereignty. Current policy isn't up to the task. @mike_ras and my view in today's @calgaryherald. It's time to move this issue into the front and centre of the Canadian economic agenda.

Is Canada measuring wealth accurately? "My report says... the top 0.1% own approximately 12% of all Canadian wealth versus what Statistics Canada's official data says, which would say about 3 to 4%," @DSkilleter (@SocialCP) tells @spaikin. At 8/11pm | Producer: @PreetiBhuyan

Not that this metric is the end all and be all, BUT... @acoyne's chart measures 'after tax income' which excludes what these 1%ers made that year through capital gains.
When you include capital gains into the picture, 2021 had the 1% surge back to almost a 40 year high.

Yeah, but what about at the top end? The notorious 1 per cent. Making out like bandits, aren't they? Taking a larger and larger share of the pie? Nope. Top 1 per cent share in Canada has been falling since 2006...
