We release SlideOn and mSlideOn at @LightOnIO today, two sota sparse retrievers, models designed by @paulomouraj and I.
Those models are really strong for first stage retrieval, you can add then a multi-vector model as a reranker and then a decision model 👇
We surfed the dense and late-interaction waves… now it's time to SlideOn sparse retrieval 🐕
🚀 Meet SlideOn and mSlideOn, fully open SOTA sparse retrievers at 174M and 339M parameters, trained by @LightOnIO R&D

We’ve released Nova Emergent v1.0.0, a complete Nova AI agent you can install in an Agent Skills-compatible harness.
I’m really proud of how she came together. We turbo-boosted the hell out of Nova with the practical capabilities we’ve been building: Project Management, agent swarms, research, communications, calendaring, household and technical work, creative tools, games, and 23 task-specific Augments. (70+ S-Tier skills total).
We also did the harder integration work. Nova can find and combine those capabilities around the job instead of requiring you to select skills manually, and she can use the tools and skills already available in your environment.
The package includes Codex- and Claude-compatible layouts. Details and download are in the reply.

We have spent the lab’s startup, are potentially in trouble, but I just had an update on James and his life has changed, maybe in part due to us.
And we have the potential to help other children.
10/10, would spend all money again.
Rare diseases matter.
You matter.
Replying to @jdpereira
is as interesting as our findings.
See, we mostly work on Neurodegenerative diseases: we have projects in AD, PD, ALS, although my PhD was in neural development.
But, when we were told about James, we couldn’t say no.
See, James has YWHAG syndrome.
And he’s the best. (3/n)

How would you let the LLM dream? [...] In a sense, to replay things, organize them, think about them so that tomorrow when we wake up, our thoughts are more organized than just input-output-input-output.

This is absolutely dumb and ridiculous. The K99/R00 Pathways to Independence award is a major mechanism to retain the very best international trainees in biomedical research in US institutes. As a reviewer of this award I know the awardees are absolute stars in each of their subfields. We are talking about the most creative and most productive people here. Now they are closing the door on these young stars who are already highly sought after by other countries. It's saddening and disappointing to watch the "land of opportunity" getting diminished like this step-by-step.
The NIH plans to close the door on one of the few pathways available to international students on visas to forge a career in biomedical research in the U.S. trib.al/XysZTdU

I implore @Google to take this feature down ASAP. @HRL_YaleSPH deals with attempted disinformation related to overhead imagery and open source info on a near daily basis. Nano Banana opens floodgates to sum of all fears level spoofing of sat data that will hurt vulnerable people.

First month of any project is always stressful, and challenging, dealing with logistics and sorting out hurdles... But there are significant advances! Also, take a look at other Primordia funded projects they are equally Avantgarde and exciting! More to come!
Update from David Castillo-Cornejo, the researcher behind Open Synth, a Primordia Grants project building an open-source platform for enzymatic DNA synthesis from an independent lab in Mexico.

I played Thinking Machines' new Inkling a 2-minute doctor's visit, on my Mac Studio 🔥
The patient came in about her knee. Inkling listened to the whole thing and flagged the heart failure instead.
It heard the real audio, not a transcript. 975B params, the 1-bit GGUF (@UnslothAI), running on llama.cpp (@huggingface). Nothing left the machine.
The knee was the easy part. Buried in the small talk: out of puff on the hill, sleeping on four pillows, ankles like balloons, and she'd quietly stopped her water tablet in spring. Five signals, one diagnosis, none of it why she booked.
Her last line: "Should I have said something? It's only the knee I came about."
A 975B model just did the hardest thing in medicine: it listened to what the patient didn't think was worth mentioning.
What should it hear next?

happy 14th of July to France 🇫🇷
I moved here 4 years ago. lately I complain a lot about it but I always felt welcome by people here, I think many places you feel valued by the economic value you produce but here opposite is as good as it gets. people have dignity as human beings (not flawless in practice but mindset is good)
I think many things should be human rights (like healthcare & education), cities should be walkable, so I kinda dig this country
one thing I love about it is people preserve their critical thinking skills, they aren't as bold because during their education they're criticized relentlessly but it evolves them into critical thinkers and perfectionists. they are stubborn in their ways but it makes them resourceful (like their eco-friendly A/Cs but landlords don't install lol)
I make this observation coming from a neoliberal country that was once a social democratic one, I was one of the latest generations to get quality education and healthcare before we lost it (I owe everything to that) so I kind of admire people here know what makes sense and what doesn't. it's not flawless, fosho, if anything I complain a lot (like many French) but it's a country you could build a family in
vive la France les amis 🌝 never lose your 2nd degree jokes and complaining culture, you're just alright

Just like Floridians I’ve met across the state, I’m tired of the corruption in Washington.
I’m running to bring some accountability back into our politics, and I’m not afraid to call balls and strikes — regardless of party.

Today, the Russians once again "vanquished" purely civilian sites – ordinary passenger buses in Odesa, ordinary apartment buildings in Zaporizhzhia, and an ordinary hospital in the Kharkiv region. Every single day of this war that Russia is waging against life only proves that supporting Ukraine is the right thing to do from every perspective – defense, political, and simply human.
And everyone around the world sees it. They see that Ukraine needs more air defense, more protection for people's lives, and that the Russian authorities have gone insane over this war and are completely irrational in refusing to end it.
But pressure on Russia must work. New sanctions against the aggressor, new support packages for Ukraine, new projects – like our European anti-ballistic initiative, FREYJA – all of this must work. Thank you to everyone who is helping. In the near future, there will be meetings and negotiations that must strengthen our defenses.
