The reason it’s so misleading is because every bunt that moves a runner is recorded as a sacrifice, UNLESS you get a hit, in which case it’s scored as a hit.
I actually pitched this pretty hard to a prominent MLB player about 10 years ago who had a contract negotiation coming up. He was fast enough to justify it, so I was explaining how bunting would bring his average up.
Every time a runner is on base with less than 2 outs, it’s a freeroll to boost your average as long as you advance the runner. Either you get a hit or it’s not an official at-bat

The NBA reportedly told the Sixers that Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin could help the team “more than ever” after selling his ownership stake, and Rubin admitted that he had been “violating every rule the NBA had” while still an owner, per @YaronWeitzman and @ginamizell:
“Speaking at the MIT Sloan Conference Friday morning, Rubin quipped that he was ‘violating every rule the NBA had’ while part of the Sixers’ ownership group. That included taking bets on the Sixers when Fanatics entered that space, and having NBA players such as Joel Embiid, James Harden, LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant as Fanatics investors.”
