BREAKING: Council Member Krista Laine Uses Tax Dollars to Lie About the Outside Audit and Campaign Against the Outside Audit Through Official Franking - - - Austin Council Member Krista Laine could be in some very hot water. Today she sent out an official email newsletter, prepared by taxpayer-funded city staff, on a platform, in an office, and with internet paid for by taxpayers, to dishonestly campaign against the Outside Audit. » Read the email she sent out here -- mailchi.mp/mc.onbehalfof.aus…. She includes an intentionally dishonest comparison of the City’s fake internal audit and our Outside Audit charter amendment: "Proposition I would require the City to engage in a shorter, more expensive version of the efficiency audit it already conducts. That’s right: in addition to the City’s regular audits (there’s actually a whole department devoted to auditing), the City is already having an efficiency audit done right now, by Public Works LLC, thanks to an ordinance passed by Council following the failure of Prop Q last November. "Our current efficiency audit will take three years to finish, in contrast to the audit proposed by Prop I, which would need to be completed in one year, resulting in an increased cost. And the Prop I audit would have to suggest budget cuts greater than or equal to the cost of the audit itself, even if it meant cutting city services. Lastly, Prop I could open up the City to expensive lawsuits by individuals who dislike the outcome of the one-year audit. Learn about the differences between our current independent efficiency assessment and the one proposed on the ballot in the table below and at this link." REAL TALK: > There is no legitimate cost estimate for our charter amendment. None. > There is no mention of the fact our charter amendment REQUIRES the audit contractor to identify MORE IN SAVINGS than the cost of the audit (unlike their fake audit). So, it doesn’t “cost” anything. It’s revenue neutral at worst. > Houston’s external performance audit had a ratio of 254:1 in cost savings to audit cost. > Nothing about the city’s fake internal audit is required to be transparent. Our Outside Audit charter amendment is REQUIRED to be fully released, not just the findings, but all drafts of the findings and all background materials. > Their fake audit can be undone by six votes on the City Council any time after Jan. 1, 2027. And it will be if Prop I fails, trust me. > The City is doing a fake audit so they can falsely and fraudulently call ours redundant. > They have no real interest in becoming more efficient. They didn’t even propose their fake audit until we were six weeks into collecting petitions for our charter amendment. > Our charter amendment REQUIRES and audit be completed NO LESS THAN ONE YEAR before any future tax rate election is called by City Hall. A tax rate election is required if a city wishes to raise property taxes by more than 3.5% year over year, as Austin attempted last year with Prop Q (an immoral and unjustified 20% city property tax increase in perpetuity on EVERY residential and commercial property, which we led the fight to kill 63%-37% against the Mayor and 9/10 council members). In addition to this use of taxpayer-funded official activity being DEEPLY inappropriate, the Outside Audit will likely pass in her district (NW Austin, District 6, formerly well represented by Mackenzie Kelly) by a YES ON PROP I (Eye) vote of at least 70%, so it’s also politically unwise. Does this taxpayer use of money to lie about our Outside Audit charter amendment fire you up? Support us here: secure.anedot.com/save-austi… Please share!

Hey, everybody, the worst mayor Austin has ever had wants you to vote yes on taking on hundreds of millions of dollars in new debt to fund basic projects that a $6.6 billion budget should already be able to cover. Oh, and he still doesn't want you to see the waste and fraud and taxpayer abuse that's lurking in the shadows of City Hall, which is whe he wants you to vote against Prop I.
Early voting opens today in Austin and runs through Oct. 30. I'm voting YES on Props A and B for parks, pools, trails, and libraries, and NO on Prop I, a retread of an audit Austin voters already rejected in 2018. Yes on A. Yes on B. No on I.

Someone’s decided to start a fire underneath the Metric and Walnut bridge. This can create a structural risk, endangering citizens and drivers. Time to remove these folks to a central homeless camp… Away from the city.

Some big plans for the coming months, and for 2027: On-the-ground reporting, on a regular basis like I used to do, and MORE, such as: - Incidents downtown and all over Austin, esp things the local news tries to ignore - Interviews with Austinites from all walks of life, including Professionals from every Industry, Business Owners, Homeowners, Students from UT, ACC, UofA, etc., Young People, Old People, Middle-Aged People, and even The Homeless - Bus rides on various CapMetro Routes - Tesla Cybercab Rides - Town Halls/City Events - Public Information Requests for Police Bodycam footage, Court Records, and other various data, exposing the organized criminal operation our city's leaders are engaging in. This type of content had to get placed on a brief (semi) postponement the last few months, due to my relocation to a low-crime area in a Republican County, with a real DA and city leaders who actually seem to do their jobs. This has been phenomenal in terms of day-to-day and quality of life, but has somewhat delayed the goals I have for this page. And that's okay, because finally leaving an unlivable city was important, but what's even more important is WHY it became so unlivable, why I had to leave my hometown, and why more than 100 people leave Austin everyday. (Another category of people I'm interested in interviewing, to see what their reasons for leaving were)... In the past, I traveled around the U.S., frequently riding public transit in Houston, San Antonio, Atlanta, L.A., Miami, etc., and never saw anything quite like what I saw on CapMetro. In fact, CapMetro was generally peaceful and safe until 2021. So what changed? We all know what happened, but we're not supposed to talk about it, and any civilized discourse about it is shot down, labeled "far-right", and so on. That is not normal, nor is it acceptable. All this said, I know I'm not the only one who has watched the demise of our once great city in real time, and that's where the "interviewing a bunch of Austinites", portion of the upcoming content comes into play. Stay tuned... P.S. comment/DM if you would like to be interviewed, or join me in filming adventures, or any other portion of my upcoming content.

Generally speaking, when a former city councilman, now a sitting U.S. congressman, shows up to protest an audit, something is wrong! Vote Lauren B. Peña!

Elon Musk used $0.00 of your tax dollars to create the first ever flying car. George Soros spent millions of your tax dollars to burn down U.S. cities with BLM riots using USAID. They are not the same. God bless @ElonMusk.

@RyanAlter please fucking make a statement about this and drop the liberal la la Harvard law school bullshit. Our district is spinning and you are silent. It is clear you believe the criminals have more rights than the average tax paying citizen.

Hey @nytimes, Katie Zacharia graduated from Pepperdine Law School but apparently isn’t licensed to practice law. You investigated her calling herself a lawyer. Abdul El-Sayed graduated from Columbia Medical School but never completed a residency or obtained a medical license. He has publicly called himself a physician, including in testimony submitted to the U.S. Senate. Have you subjected El-Sayed’s professional claims to the same scrutiny? Or does the standard change depending on whose credentials you’re examining?
President Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, describes herself as a lawyer, and he called her “an attorney.” The New York Times was unable to find a law license for her. In an interview, she said the confusion is the result of a misunderstanding. nyti.ms/3UnhqMh

If we are being honest, the best person to be the new White House Press Secretary should be Kari Lake, if Katie Zacharia is departing. She has over 20 years of experience in the media. She is an excellent speaker, she understands how the fake press operates. Kari is diehard MAGA. It would be the press's worst nightmare having to deal with Kari. She does not take bullshit from anyone. Plus, her name follows the K trend. Kayleigh, Karoline, Katie and Kari.

I've known @jamestalarico for nearly 20 years. When we were at @UTAustin in 2009, he ran the University Democrats and I ran the College Republicans. Although we disagreed, I once considered him a friend. But then he betrayed the entire student body for his own political gain.🧵

Thank you @elonmusk 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
🚨 WOW! Elon Musk just issued two of the largest political donations in HISTORY, and it went STRAIGHT to helping Ken Paxton in Texas Elon surged $83 MILLION and $75 MILLION in two separate donations to the Senate GOP's fundraising arm, and each exact total went directly to a PAC supporting Paxton 👏🏻 THIS MAN IS A LEGEND 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Yet again something he doesn't have to do, but he's doing anyway!

Here in Texas we do not need a Senator who sounds good on CNN. We need one who has spent years fighting the federal government for our border, our guns and our kids. That is Ken Paxton. James Talarico has a smile and national money. Paxton has a record. Early voting starts Monday. Keep Texas red.
