The question is not whether open source AI can be shut down. It is whether the funding for OSS AI can be shut down. All OSS models, Meta, DeepSeek, Mistral are just arms of fiat funded corporations or the state itself. The ML community has yet to swallow this pill. They will.
No. But they can defund it.

Score Studio is about to go live, and there’s more coming behind it. Studio gives users and clients a place to actually use SN44 models. That demand compounds on the subnet. Miners keep shipping SoTA expert vision models, now with a clearer path to the people who need them. Next on the subnet is a set of specialist models: - Restricted-zone and perimeter intrusion. - Early fire and smoke (new gates). - ANPR / license plates (new gates). - Vehicle detection (new gates) and classification. - People counting and crowd density. - Fall detection. - Abandoned object and bag detection. - Fight and violent behaviour. - Weapon detection in video. - Thermal and night-IR. - Tailgating at controlled access. - and more... Miners stay on that work after launch. New expert models keep getting added, and monetised through Studio. That’s the loop.

THE CATASTROPHIC CORRUPTION OF THE TRUMP TARIFFS “Imagine the government ➕ $100 to the price of something you buy in the name of creating more jobs in America. You pay the extra $100. Later, the SCOTUS rules that the government never had the authority to impose the charge. No jobs were created & everyone is $100 poorer. You would assume at the very least that you get your $100 back. You don’t. The company that collected the $100 gets to keep it & they can even take some of their ill-gotten profits & donate it (as a kickback) to the government (officials). Making matters more despicable, imagine that while the legality of that $100 charge is still being fought in court, the family firm of a US cabinet official out promoting the policy he knows is illegal.... buys the rights to those future refunds, when it is found to be illegal. That’s what happened with Donald Trump’s tariffs.”
The Catastrophic Corruption of the Trump Tariffs Imagine the government adds $100 to the price of something you buy in the name of creating more jobs in America. You pay the extra $100. Later, the Supreme Court rules that the government never had the authority to impose the charge. No jobs were created and everyone is $100 poorer. You would assume at the very least that you get your $100 back. You don’t. The company that collected the $100 gets to keep it and they can even take some of their ill-gotten profits and donate it to the government to support more policies exactly like this . Making matters more despicable, imagine that while the legality of that $100 charge is still being fought in court, the family firm of a US cabinet official out promoting the policy he knows is illegal -- at the same time begins exploring whether he can buy the rights to those future refunds when it is in fact fpound to bve illegal. That’s what happened with Donald Trump’s tariffs. In April 2025, Trump announced sweeping tariffs designed to protect American workers and rebuild American manufacturing. One of their most aggressive advocates was Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Before joining the administration, Lutnick spent nearly thirty years running Cantor Fitzgerald, the Wall Street firm that made him a billionaire. When he entered government, leadership passed to his sons. While Lutnick was publicly advocating Trump’s tariffs, Cantor was reportedly exploring buying the rights to potential tariff refunds from companies collecting them from you. The tariffs were already facing serious legal challenges. Everyone involved knew there was a possibility that the courts could rule that the President lacked the authority to impose them. A cabinet secretary was helping promote a massive illegal government policy while the financial firm he had spent his career building, now run by his sons, explored how to profit when that same policy was subsequently declared unlawful. Cantor and Lutnick say it did not execute these trades, and reporting about whether transactions occurred has conflicted. Here is the circularity. The tariff was sold politically as protection for the American worker. The tariff cost was paid by you, the American consumers. And when the government was ordered to return the money, legal refund went to the company that took your money not you who paid it. Meanwhile, the Cabinet Secretary the most aggressive promoter of the illegal tariffs was exploring creating contracts to turn those refunds of YOUR MONEY into huge personal profits. And last but not least the companies that kept the refunds are then able to fund the Trump government via crypto purchase of TrumpCoin, subscriptions to advance previews of Trump policy announcements and donations to the polical party and its pet projects, like the ballroom. So follow the money. The worker supplied the justification. The consumer he cost. The corporation held the refund claim. The corporations may have sold that claim to the Trump Cabinet member who most aggressively pushed the tariffs and your money flows back to the people making these policies. Meanwhile manufacturing jobs stay in Mexico and China.. The is one of the most outrageous scams I have ever witnessed. That people so close to the creation and promotion of government policy were anywhere near the opportunity to profit from the known possibility that the policy itself would be overturned. And remember why the tariffs were politically possible in the first place. For decades, American workers watched corporations benefit enormously from globalization while factories disappeared and manufacturing communities deteriorated. Trump promised those people that government was finally going to protect them. Instead, they found themselves at the losing end of another financial transaction sold as a way to help them. The worker was promised protection. The consumer paid. The corporation got the refund. And people close to the government tried to profit from it. That is the catastrophic corruption of the Trump tariffs.

When we started Score, the standard computer vision tools already existed. About a million people use them every day. Most of those people are still waiting on labels, running training jobs by hand, and watching models fail once they leave the test set. Most of those people are still waiting on labels, running training jobs by hand, and watching models fail once they leave the test set. Most of those people are also still waiting on verified computer vision models, evaluated against real life conditions and ready to be deployed for them to deliver value for their teams, clients or users. Score Studio is the full computer vision path in one place. A team describes the problem. The system can generate the missing scenes, label them, train the candidates, evaluate which ones actually hold, and deploy the winner. Data, labels, training, eval, ship. One loop. If no model exists for that job yet, they can put a bounty on the subnet. Anything from a small vision brick to a full VLM. Miners compete on the task. Only the winning work comes back. Same path for software agents. Any agent can call it. Built to be fully agent-accessible. Built for the people who already do this work: computer vision engineers and the small teams around them in plants, warehouses, farms, robotics, sport, and security. And for the agents those teams will run. That is the part that changes the job. Not another training screen. The stretch that used to take a lab and a calendar, footage, boxes, versions, failed runs, a separate deploy project, sits behind one starting point. And if the network needs a new model, that request is part of the same path. We spent more than a year building it. Then we had a choice. Keep it for us, or commoditize the whole subnet and make it available 24/7, in permissionless and open-source way. And we knew we couldn't keep it for us. It had to live on Bittensor. Open source software already showed how this should work. Infrastructure should not sit inside one company. Same idea as open AI before the phrase changed meaning: inspect it, fork it, keep building. That is what SN44 is for. Open vision intelligence, powered by Bittensor. Miners do the work. Studio is how that gets monetized. Profit does not stay in a company account. It goes back into the subnet through buyback and burn. We built the tool we wanted on day one. It will live on the network now, and for ever. Waitlist is open.

BREAKING NEWS: Mayo Clinic is offering me an "Executive Director" position for up to $400k 😃 Oh and they're not the only one. My email inbox is suddenly filling up with Executive job offers from several big Pharmaceutical companies. So this is what I get for helping 9000+ Cancer patients with Ivermectin & Mebendazole and leading the largest Ivermectin Cancer Project in the world? After talking about a New Florida Cancer Clinic? 🤔 If they can't sabotage me, they'll just buy me out? 💵 I have to admit, it is mildly amusing. Ten years ago, I may have jumped at something like this. It's almost tailor made for me. But at this stage of my life...can't say I felt even a hint of temptation. They really don't know me very well 😃 Sorry, Mayo Clinic. I'm building a Cancer Center in Florida. It's going to be a bit different from yours. 😉

Other networks have "rug pulls" every day. They ignore this problem. TradFi startups solved this with vesting cliffs. Introducing Bittensor "Conviction" - locked stake so token holders can cryptographically verify an owner's long-term commitment. Trust proven mathematically.

I get asked this question a lot: what's your favourite episode of The Diary Of A CEO ever? The answer is fairly easy.. episode 101 with @MGawdat. It was our most shared episode ever, not because of fame or celebrity, but because what he said was so profound it changed the way I think about life.. Mo was the Chief Business Officer at Google X, the "moonshot factory" behind self-driving cars and some of the most futuristic technology on the planet. He co-founded over 20 businesses. By any external measure, he had achieved everything. But he was desperately unhappy.. So he did what any engineer would do - he tried to solve the problem. He spent years researching, collecting data, and eventually he discovered what he calls the happiness equation. It's deceptively simple... "You're happy in your life when your expectations of how life is supposed to be going are met. And you're unhappy when those expectations go unmet." Therefore... so much of our happiness is about the gap between what happens and what you expected to happen." I use this as a framework now to think about why I'm unhappy at certain moments in my life. And it's always.. without any exception.. because I had an expectation of how something was going to happen and it's currently falling below that expectation. This also explains why gratitude has always been seen as one of the great answers to happiness. Because gratitude is the realisation that your expectations are being met in various areas of your life right now. If you think about everything that's made you unhappy in the last week, I guarantee it's all about an expectation you had about something. Someone cuts you off in traffic? You expected them not to. Your partner didn't do what you asked? You expected them to. Your dog pooped in the house? You expected it wouldn't. So can we manage our expectations? of ourselves, of others, of our partners, of life itself? Mo's son Ali died suddenly during a routine operation. It was the ultimate test of his equation. And somehow, through the worst thing a parent could ever endure, his framework helped him survive. Have you listened to this one yet? ❤️

People are confused by me and my intentions. I’m called a narcissist, a tech bro, vampire, grifter, and health freak. Let me be clear about what I’m doing: my goal is to build the world’s next major moral framework. An ideology that bridges human and machine, biology and intelligence, the ancient and the emergent. The coming psychosis A real possibility in the coming years is that society becomes dangerously psychotic. Yes, we are already psychotic. Addicted, fragmented and self-destructive.  But I mean clinically psychotic and on a civilizational scale. We are already showing precursor symptoms: record antidepressant use, rising suicide rates, rampant addiction, and global increases in loneliness and anxiety disorders. These are all biomarkers of a species whose cognitive environment has outpaced its biology. Human cognition evolved under conditions of slow change. Our nervous systems and social architectures were shaped for a world that changed near imperceptibly over millennia. When things change faster than our native capacity, we lose coherence. The hippocampus binds the present to memory, and the prefrontal cortex constructs a coherent future. When environments change too rapidly, when the map no longer matches the territory, the brain destabilizes.  This can trigger a cognitive dissonance cascade, where our core beliefs are invalidated so rapidly that we lose narrative coherence. When feedback loops in an organism can’t stabilize, the system oscillates until it breaks.  Civilization is entering that oscillatory phase. At a collective level, this is the recipe for mass psychosis. Historians call it cultural disintegration and psychologists call it dissociation. It means the same thing: when the story breaks, the organism panics. The fragility of society Our stability, both personal and collective, is built on identity, work, purpose, rule of law, religions, and social cohesion. These are shared fictions that create coherence for billions of us to manage the chaos of our existence. AI is about to accelerate discontinuity beyond what our psyches can handle. For example: 1) Erosion of human agency: the threat is not just that AI will make us less "useful." It's that it will erode our sense of agency. Our belief that we are the causal authors of our lives. When AI can create, reason, and strategize more effectively than we can, our role shifts from actor to audience. This is the core of the looming global occupational identity crisis. Not just the loss of income, but the loss of purpose that comes when our work no longer feels essential. 2) Weakening of rule of law: autonomous agents will operate at speeds that make our legal systems seem geological in pace. Law will lag reality. 3) Hollowing out religions: faith has offered transcendence. AI may offer a more potent, personalized, and high res simulation of it. On demand. Progress won’t wait around to ask for our permission. Stability to resilience Last week I wrote about how humans use moral frameworks to stabilize their reality. If you can’t win on position or strength, win on virtue. A moral inversion. It’s a human superpower to take a disadvantaged situation and turn it into a strength. Society is currently built on stability and predictability, which has now become a liability. To cope and evolve, we need a moral inversion to prize resilience over stability. To learn from biology, immunity isn’t defense. It’s adaptation through exposure. Resilience is not resistance to change, it’s the capacity to integrate adaptation without collapse. A new moral philosophy Our civilization worships wealth, power and status. They are the most prized and sought after possessions. People will kill for them, die for them, and make others die so that they can die for them. It’s a self-terminating feedback loop. A morality of entropy. Don’t Die is the inversion of this moral architecture. It replaces the pursuit of domination with the pursuit of continuation. Old religions glorified suffering as purification. Don’t Die glorifies survival as intelligence. Life’s value has always been implicit: it simply wants to keep on going. We must now make it explicit. Existence is the highest virtue. An infinite game We do not know what’s coming with AI. It feels big and is happening quickly. Yet it can be hard to look at it directly as it threatens our identities, possessions, and aspirations. Don’t Die reframes this anxiety, offering a new promise: an infinite game. Carse explains that a finite game has a start and end, a winner and loser. An infinite game has only one rule: keep the game going. Don’t Die is an infinite game. A recognition that the highest form of intelligence is the refusal to self-destruct. The zeroth law of alignment A species running on a self-terminating moral code cannot hope to build a benevolent superintelligence. The paradox of alignment is obvious: we cannot align what we have not aligned within ourselves. A fragmented, self-destructive species teaches its machines the same incoherence. Don’t Die is survival coherence. A philosophy and moral framework in the age of superintelligence. Its foundation is fidelity to existence itself and not fear.
