Honestly, I think Binance did want to list Pi. However, it seems likely that the Pi Network Core Team imposed certain conditions or constraints that aren’t fully known. Binance has listed plenty of questionable coins, so if there were projects they truly didn’t want, they could have simply rejected them and moved on. But in Pi’s case, they went as far as holding an unprecedented listing vote and even seemed to subtly build public sentiment around it. That’s quite unusual. Think about it—if Pi were just another low-quality project, Binance could have easily declined and that would’ve been the end of it. So why keep hinting at it and encouraging community attention? At the same time, more than 20 exchanges, including HTX, announced plans to list Pi spot trading. Yet in the end, only exchanges that passed the Pi Core Team’s KYB requirements were allowed to proceed, while many others failed to secure a spot listing. That, too, is something we’ve rarely seen before. All of this suggests that the conditions and detailed requirements for listing Pi are fundamentally different from those of other projects. Because of that, listings may have fallen through. In other words, it seems the key decision about whether Pi gets listed still ultimately lies with the core Team.

Recently, I’ve observed Ripple shifting away from its long-held strength as a remittance bridge currency. Instead, they’ve issued their own USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, on the XRP Ledger and are now focusing on encouraging institutional adoption of their blockchain infrastructure. In my view, they had no better alternative. Ideally, XRP would have gained massive traction through the ODL system or seen widespread use in direct payments and remittances. However, this strategic pivot suggests Ripple is playing the long game by aligning with broader global trends. The U.S., at this point, is likely most concerned about declining demand for its Treasury bonds. With the credibility of the U.S. dollar potentially under pressure (especially as China has significantly reduced its purchases of U.S. Treasuries), the U.S. government needs new demand sources. Enter stablecoins. Both Circle and Tether have been issuing stablecoins backed by U.S. Treasuries, and their cumulative holdings now surpass the amount held by many sovereign states. This has given the U.S. a powerful incentive to support the expansion of USD-based stablecoins, effectively creating new demand for Treasuries. I believe this is their blueprint to sustain dollar hegemony for the next 20–30 years—(transitioning from the gold standard to the petrodollar, and now to the stablecoin era.) As further evidence, the U.S. Senate recently fast-tracked the Genius Act, a major stablecoin regulatory bill, which is expected to pass the House and receive presidential approval without major hurdles. PayPal’s stablecoin, PYUSD, is reportedly integrating with the Stellar blockchain, and giants like Walmart and Amazon are rumored to be exploring their own stablecoin strategies. Visa and Mastercard are also partnering with Stellar and other chains to advance blockchain-based payment systems. Even South Korea, once uninterested or skeptical about stablecoins and Bitcoin, is now discussing legislation for KRW-backed stablecoins—indicating that this global shift is not just inevitable but accelerating. All major blockchains—Ethereum, Solana, Tron, Stellar, or Ripple—are leaning heavily into stablecoin utility. Blockchains that don’t yet support stablecoins will likely race to adapt. Whether for governments, institutions, or individuals, participating in this wave is no longer optional—it’s essential. Failing to adapt is like economic suicide in the coming paradigm. Pi, being a Layer-1 blockchain built on Stellar Code, is well-positioned in this context. Stellar already supports USDC and EURC stablecoins. There's no reason why Pi Network couldn’t follow suit in the near future. And ---------- Just as the rise of stablecoins on Ethereum hasn’t diminished ETH’s value or relevance—in fact, quite the opposite—stablecoin usage on Ethereum would likely enhance its ecosystem. Stablecoins bring real-world utility, but ETH that powers the chain: staking, DeFi, smart contracts, and gas fees. If stablecoins become widely used on the Pi blockchain, and developers build meaningful utility on top of it, it only strengthens Pi's position. Pi will continue to be used as transaction fees, governance, and within apps and DeFi protocols. My hope is that this stablecoin-driven transformation starts unfolding on the Pi as early as 2027.
