Puerto Rico not only produces world-class artists, such as Bad Bunny (@sanbenito), but also world-class scientists. Congratulations to the boricua scientist, Professor Héctor D. Abruña (Tito Abruña), from @Cornell University, for receiving the "Enrico Fermi Award" given by the @POTUS and administered by the @ENERGY (DOE) to honor lifetime achievements of scientists of international stature in the development, use, or production of energy in work that benefits humanity. The White House press release says "for revolutionizing the fundamental understanding of electroanalytical chemistry and innovating characterization for development of batteries, fuel cells and energy materials that have led to advancements for the electrical energy transformation and generation...Over four decades, Abruña has been one of the most important global contributors to an improved understanding of electrochemical interfaces". From Puerto Rico to the world! Thanks to @MitkElBSantiago for sharing his experience during the ceremony honoring his postdoctoral mentor.
Congratulations to Professor Héctor D. Abruña on winning the Enrico Fermi Presidential Award 👏 Abruña's research has resulted in 39 inventions disclosed to the university, 29 US and international patents, and more patent applications pending. Learn more: bit.ly/3PnCEnd

A student asked me a question: I am sometimes told that it is “easier” for me in STEM as a student from an UR background because of all the grants available to me. How do I respond to this? I wanted to expand on my answer a bit here…

I would like to truly appreciate the Forum of Early Career Scientists of the @APSphysics for the 2024 Diversity and Inclusion Award. From the start, I've wanted to pass on the opportunities I had, and it feels surreal to be recognized for it. engage.aps.org/fecs/blogs/an…
