Last tweet about Mexico/Charles/Lewis, and then I’ll move on São Paulo.
For the past 24/48 hours, I’ve been seeing some absolutely ridiculous takes. Some people are saying that Leclerc doesn’t think about the team, or that Leclerc is the one costing Ferrari points.
- A lot of people are outraged and shocked by Charles’ move on Lewis, and I can understand that. But why weren’t these same people outraged or shocked at Monza when Lewis attacked Charles into Turn 1, despite the team having an opportunity to secure a double podium or even a victory at Monza? Yes, what Charles does afterwards at Turn 2 isn’t right either, but it’s a response to what happened at Turn 1.
- Second point: “Leclerc is the one costing Ferrari the most points, and Lewis isn’t.”
Monza, fair enough. Closing the door on Lewis and pushing him off the track cost LH positions.
In Mexico, at Turn 4, Charles attacks Lewis. Neither of them is thinking about the team in that moment. Charles tries something around the outside, but realises he can’t pull it off and cuts the corner. Lewis sees Charles attacking and defends his position.
Lewis loses P2 because of his aggressive defence against Leclerc. If he had defended normally, Charles would have cut the corner, Lewis would have made the corner, and Charles would then have given the position back to him.
Charles attacks at Turn 4 because the door is open, and more importantly, because they are allowed to race each other. There were no team orders.
Using these two incidents as examples to push the narrative that “Charles is the one costing Ferrari points, while Lewis isn’t” is quite something. I think some of you have a short memory. Maybe it’s time to remember Singapore. Why did Lewis refuse to box when the team told him to?
Simply because he wanted to finish ahead of his teammate. And that’s understandable, because a driver’s first rival is always his teammate.
But that decision cost Ferrari points, and more importantly, a double podium. At that point in the race, Charles was P2 and Lewis was P3. By the end of the race, Charles finished P2 and Lewis P6.
So, what I’m trying to explain is that we need to stop pushing this narrative. When two teammates fight each other, you’re unhappy. When two teammates don’t fight each other, you’re still unhappy.
I don’t know if everything I’ve said is completely objective, but I’ve tried to be as objective as possible. Now it’s time to think about 🇧🇷

What a year Kimi, faultless from the beginning to the end. So well deserved and very happy for you.
We’ll work hard to make it a bit harder for you next year 😘

The dishonesty shown by certain people when claiming that Leclerc is not a team player is quite astonishing. You clearly have a short memory. Perhaps you need to be reminded of certain things that have happened within this team since 2019. Then we can talk.
- 2019:
🇦🇺 FIRST RACE with Ferrari, and he’s already given an order: Charles is not allowed to attack Seb. He follows the team orders.
🇨🇳 Charles is told to let Seb through just as he’s starting to find his pace. Charles follows the team orders.
🇸🇬 Ferrari simply decides to steal the win from Charles and hand it to Seb with an undercut. And even then, Charles says he won’t do anything and won’t attack Seb.
🇷🇺 The initial plan was for Charles (starting from pole) to give Seb (P3) a tow so he could get past Hamilton/Leclerc, and then for Seb to give the position back to Charles. Charles followed every single team order.
- 2022:
🇬🇧 Ferrari steals another win from him and hands it to his teammate, and yet Charles is still thinking about the team and Carlos in his radio after the race.
- 2023:
🇸🇬 Ferrari simply sacrifices Leclerc to benefit Carlos. And Charles deliberately makes a strategic decision that day to help Carlos win.
- 2024:
🇦🇺 Charles and Carlos are P1 and P2, both fighting for the win, when Ferrari gives Charles a team order. Charles follows it.
🇺🇸 All of a sudden, Charles starts experiencing a loss of tyre performance. Instead of defending his position, he tells the team over the radio that he’ll let Carlos through.
- 2025
🇺🇸 Ferrari gives Charles a team order to let Lewis through. Charles follows it.
🇦🇿 Another team order from Ferrari to let Lewis through. Charles follows it once again.
- 2026
🇪🇸 Even though Lewis has just pitted and the two drivers are on completely different strategies, Charles says over the radio that he’ll let Lewis through (for the win).
If you still have doubts about the kind of team player Charles is, then you’re the problem. Ever since he joined Ferrari, he has consistently put the team before himself. Yesterday, there simply were no team orders. Both drivers were free to race each other.

그만큼 남탓, 팀탓, 환경... spin-spin.com/q/6aba629f7be5…

english isn’t charles’s first nor second language and yet he is a hundred times more eloquent post-race than his english teammate. he may have gotten the podium but his constant disrespect and disregard for his team and teammate speaks volumes.
“At Silverstone, I could have gone all kamikaze on him and taken him off and lost us the the win”

brother….
Lewis : « Before I joined this team, when I was in Mercedes, I watched and witnessed the back-and-forth between Charles and Carlos. Several races where they were battling so much that the person ahead just pulled away, and they had the pace to actually win the race.
It’s one thing when that's happening in fourth and fifth as opposed to first and second, and you lose the win. That's significant. The guy is 28 years old, so I don't think it's an age thing. I think it's a mentality thing. It's like do or die. Like, either I win, or none of us do, and it shouldn't be that. It should be, us having got that one-two, which is still a good feeling.
At Silverstone, I could have gone all kamikaze on him and taken him off and lost us the the win, but instead a one-two was there, and I think we got a one-two, or was it a one-three? I'm happy for the team to have experienced that. I'm hopeful we'll work towards a better place in the future. »
